Construction and repair by own hands

The brazier is made of metal with a citron drawing dimensions. How to make a brazier from metal: design options and manufacturing methods.

It is difficult to find someone who does not like meat and vegetables cooked on coal. That's why the brazier takes a leadership position among other attributes necessary for outdoor recreation. Modern devices have a variety of designs: they can be either portable metal or stationary from brick or metal, with a canopy, cover, etc. Everything depends on the desire and imagination of the owner. And it is not necessary to buy a brazier, because you can make a metal brazier with your own hands.

Advantages of mangal from metal

The simplest, but very practical model of the barbecue

Pros and cons of metal braziers vary depending on which models to consider:

  • thin-walled they are mobile, compact and affordable. They are made by punching details from the thinnest metal sheets, which has a beneficial effect on their weight. Most often, they produce folding versions. However, they are often used not only as a receptacle for coals with a separate fire, but also for firing and kindling the latter. Therefore, the service life of such a brazier can be significantly reduced. The walls quickly burn out, deform and become unusable. In addition, they do not keep the heat, which leads to an unjustifiably high consumption of coals;
  • thick-walled   wear-resistant and roomy. Such braziers can serve for years. True, they are not so portable, because they are made of thick sheets of metal, and therefore have a fairly large weight.

Varieties

Before you start making a brazier, you need to decide on its type.

Portable (folding / folding)

Compact folding brazier  You can take with you even on foot

Portable braziers are easy to assemble, have a simple and compact design, designed for outing picnics. They are of two types: folding and collapsible.

  1. In a portable collapsible brazier, the elements are assembled with bolts, pins and other connecting elements during assembly. Such models are mobile and compact, but they have one drawback - poor reliability. Make this mangal with their own hands is quite difficult.
  2. In a portable folding brazier, the elements do not separate completely, but move or fold. The main shortcoming is a short service life. In the best case, they last for one or two seasons.
  3. Currently, a very popular model is a one-time brazier, which is designed for one use. Its undoubted advantage is low price and low weight.

Stationary

Metal brazier with a roof allows cooking in almost any weather

Stationary brazier has a large number of manufacturing options. Such models can be with or without a roof. The first ones are self-sufficient. The roof will protect not only the cook, but also the furnace itself from direct sunlight, snow or rain, which will extend the service life. The second is usually installed where there is already a canopy.

With smokehouse

In such a brazier you can not only fry, but also smoke meat or fish

The brazier with smokehouse can be used not only for frying meat or fish, but also for their smoking. To do this, it must be equipped with a dense metal cover, and on the sides of the inner side should provide a shelf for installation of the grate.

The principle of smoking in this brazier is as follows: at the bottom lay thin branches of fruit trees (apple, cherry or plum), and on the installed grate - prepared pieces of meat or fish. The brazier is covered with a lid and a fire is placed under it. Being inside the branches from a high temperature begin to smolder, but because of a lack of oxygen do not light up. Thus, meat or fish are simultaneously baked at high temperatures and smoked in smoke from smoldering fruit branches.

In contrast to the usual rectangular barbecue, American barbecue is often round

The main difference between barbecue and barbecue is that meat is not fried on skewers, but on grill. In this case, not only coals, but also open fire can be used. Thus, the beads should be higher than the brazier, and they require grill fasteners.

Table: Pros and Cons of Different Types of Mangals

A TYPE ADVANTAGES LIMITATIONS
Portable (thin-walled) Compactness, easy assembly, low weight, low price, mobility. Short service life, it is possible to deform and burn out the main container, it does not keep the heat very bad.
Portable / mobile (thick-walled) Better keeps the temperature, in comparison with the stationary has a light weight, long service life, is resistant to corrosion. High price.
Disposable Mobility, low weight, low price. Can not be used again.
Stationary The large size of the frypot, low heat output, the longest period of operation. There is no way to move.
It allows not only to fry, but also to smoke meat and fish. Quite difficult to find on sale. You can make only to order or yourself.
Cooking is not only on coals, but also on open fire. It is quite an expensive device.

Select a location

Choosing a place, you need to consider some important points:

  • do not place the brazier under the trees or near the bushes, since high temperatures can scorch branches;
  • you can not place the device under the film or fabric canopies, which because of the heat can burn;
  • it is advisable to take into account the wind rose so that smoke does not get into the windows of your house or to neighbors;
  • the best option would be a separate barbecue area located near the main recreation area.

If the brazier is standing on the ground, it is advisable to pave the area under it with refractory material (stones or paving slabs). In the rainy season, this will allow you to approach the brazier without hindrance, and the design itself - do not sink with time to the ground.

So, we smoothly approached the main issue of our conversation. How to make a brazier with their own hands?

Tools and materials

To make a metal brazier by your own hands, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • sheet metal (iron or steel);
  • bolts and other fastening materials;
  • welding machine;

When manufacturing a metal brazier without a welding machine,

  • a hand drill or an electric drill;
  • bulgarian with cutting discs for metal;
  • angle grinder for grinding;
  • pipe or corner (for feet);
  • roulette and square for marking;

For the 'patterning' of the metal parts of the barbecue you will need a Bulgarian

  • angle grinder for grinding;
  • a hammer or a small sledgehammer;
  • pipe or corner (for feet);
  • roulette and square for marking.

Technology of manufacturing by own hands

The brazier, which we will independently perform from metal, will be as simple as possible. For a small company, enough 8-10 skewers with meat, and if there is a need, you can prepare another serving.

Shampur should not interfere with each other, but large intervals between them should be avoided, so as not to waste heat.

Following these arguments, we calculate the length of the structure. A classic skewer places 5-7 pieces of meat. The depth of the brazier is determined by practical methods. Meat should not be far from coals, but too close to it should not be placed, otherwise it will burn. The distance from the top edge of the structure to the ground depends on the growth of the cook. Most often this is 75-125 cm.

Drawing

We make a drawing of our brazier. The diagram can look like this, as shown in the following figure.

The brazier is not a space rocket, so the drawing can be the most primitive

As a material we will use sheet metal 2-3 mm thick.

So, we perform the layout of the sheet, using a square to avoid misalignment:

  • 70x20 cm - 2 pcs. (rear and front walls);
  • 70x28 cm - 1 pc. (bottom);
  • 28x20 cm - 2 pcs. (lateral piers).

We cut the elements by the Bulgarian.

Small slits help fix the skewer in the desired position

On the upper long side of the sides, you can make small cuts for more secure fixation of the skewer in the selected position.

To ensure the flow of oxygen along the sides of the brazier, a number of holes are made

To ensure airflow to the inside of the base-box on the front and back panels, it is necessary to drill a few holes with a diameter of 10 mm in increments of 10-15 cm from each other. Measure 2 cm from the bottom edge of the structure and draw a straight line, indicating the places under the clipping.

Welding works

For the legs you can use a 20x20 cm corner or metal pipes with a diameter of at least 20 mm, length 60-100 cm (depends on the growth of the cook).

If you use a tube, you can make the structure collapsible. To do this, you will additionally need 4 bolts with nuts. Bolts are welded to each tube. In all four corners of the bottom of the box you need to drill a hole a little more in diameter than the bolts welded to the legs. If corners are used, they can simply be welded to the base.

If you want to add your smoking grill to your brazier, then it will be enough to weld two corners to the inside of its long sides at a height of about 7-10 centimeters from the bottom. Also it is necessary to make a cover from metal, welding small side walls to the metal basis slightly exceeding sizes of a brazier. For convenience, it is recommended to weld the top bracket on top of the cover, which will be used as a handle.

  1. It is impossible to fill the hot brazier with water (from the temperature drops, the metal can be deformed).
  2. Frozen grease, soot or soot can easily be removed with a rag with sand.
  3. From time to time, lubricate the brazier with vegetable oil applied to a clean cloth - this will lend shine and at the same time protect the structure from unfavorable weather conditions.

Unusual mangal design (video)

In conclusion, we offer you a small video that shows how to make a metal brazier, using the base of the old sewing machine "Singer" (Singer).

For many of us, shish kebab is the most delicious and desired food. Cherry wood, properly pickled meat, brazier, made by own hands - a dream for a gourmet. Possessing a minimal set of skills, you can easily build the brazier yourself. And we can only wish you successful work and a pleasant appetite!

Metal brazier is the easiest to manufacture. Therefore, it is the most common, especially among those people who like to do something with their own hands and constantly rest in the country or in nature.

Kinds

Made of metal braziers are:

    Portable can be completely or partially collapsible. Both designs are depicted on many photos.

    Foldable products

    The first view is a single construction, which you can fold yourself in portable case. Such metal braziers are designed for tourists. Therefore, their features are:

    • small size;
    • comparatively low weight.

    Most drawings of such braziers include a brazier with dimensions of 45x26x16 cm (LxWxH). For several tourists the design with small dimensions is ideal. However, for a large company, it does not fit very well. After all, it will take a long time to cook shish kebab.

    Another feature of the right folding braziers is a special material. For their production use thin fire-resistant stainless steel. At the same time, all the loops are also made of it. Due to this, the brazier turns out to be quite small. And this is certainly a joyful fact for pedestrian tourists, who like to shoot a variety of videos.

    Another interesting point: stainless steel is very easy to clean from soot. It is enough to wipe with a rag, and its mirror image comes back. Therefore, a folding brazier can be put in a rucksack with a light heart and do not worry that something inside will become dirty.

    Also folding braziers make their own hands of sheet metal. They can have the above dimensions, and may also be larger. The products are a bit heavy and therefore suitable for short trips. Such constructions are a good option  In those cases, when there is very little space in the car.

    Demountable and stationary models

    Portable fully collapsible braziers can also be folded compactly. However, this compactness will be worse than that of collapsible ones. After all, the scheme provides for large parts. In this case, the creators use racks with a height of 1 m. They are much larger than similar elements of a folding brazier. Due to the large size and height, the portable mangles shown in the video and on the photo create great comfort during the preparation of the shish kebab.

    Partially dismantled models and their sketches provide for the possibility of removing the legs. The oven is an integral structure.

    Stationary have a large mass and if they can be carried, then only through the courtyard. Mainly they are distinguished by a large number of decorating beautiful elements. Of course, many of them are. Such braziers have almost the same as that of dismountable structures, a brazier. All other elements are beautifully designed and depend on the imagination of the creator. Often such braziers resemble characters of fairy tales, train, cars and any other items. Of course, you can see them in different photos. Many fixed mangals are built into the frame with the roof.

    Forms of brazier

    Brazier brazier can look like:

    1. Boxes without top.
    2. A vertical wide cylinder with a pillar in the center.
    3. Cylinder with a throat at the top.
    4. Gutters with a rounded bottom.

    The brazier with the first type of brazier is most often used. Many craftsmen make the latter type. Its name sounds somewhat strange, however, in practice it represents a cut along the barrel or. It can often be seen in the photo.

    Ideal model

    Its features depend on the shape of the brazier. That is, for each form has its optimal size.

    The drawing of the ideal classic rectangular metal brazier has such features:

    1. Width - 250 mm. This is enough to accommodate 6-8 pieces of meat. With this magnitude, the heat from the longitudinal side walls is obtained by all the pieces, including those that are in the middle. This heat is needed to form a crispy crust. If you make the width larger, then the middle pieces will be without crust.
    2. Length - about 1 m. It is taken into account that one shampoo should be 8-12 cm. Also a stock of 5 cm on both sides is taken into account. It turns out, that in a meter brazier it is possible to place 8 skewers. This is enough for an average company. A great length does not follow, because the cook will have to run from one end to the other. It is more convenient to stand in one place.
    3. Height - 200 mm. The optimal height is 150 mm. However, firewood can be different and give off its own amount of heat.
    4. Vertical cutouts  in the longitudinal side walls. Their length should be 50 mm. This value will allow you to select the height of the placement of the skewers, depending on the type of firewood. The meat should be 30-70 mm from the coals. This range is due to the type of firewood.
    5. Holes in the bottom. There must be a lot of them. The diameter of each hole should be made 10-15 mm. The distance between holes and rows of holes should reach 20-30 mm. Drawings of an ideal brazier can provide a bottom from the net. This option is even better, as the influx of air to the coals increases. The grid should be made of wire, the diameter of which is large 4 mm.
    6. Thickness  metal walls - 2 mm, and even better 4-6 mm. This will ensure both a long service life and the creation of the necessary heat for cooking shish kebab.
    7. The height of the whole structure depends on the growth of the cook. In most cases - 1 m.

    How to make an ideal model

    First you need to   draw a drawing of one's own hands. In doing so, observe the above rules. The drawing will determine the dimensions of each side wall. Also, during his drawing, it is determined with the realization of the possibility of analyzing the brazier. If this is possible, then the length of the side walls should be increased by 2 cm. These additional centimeters will be the folded edges. That is, 1 cm of each side, which will be adjacent to the posts, will need to be bent at an angle of 90 °. 1 cm of the bottom edge of the sidewalls of any brazier also need to be bent. Do it inside the design. This process is often depicted in a video.

    According to the draft drawing cut the harvested sheet metal  and profile pipe  or corners. Drill holes in the bottom. In the longitudinal side walls they make their own cuts. In the case of a complete collapsible construction  in the stands make two long apertures. Their length should be equal to the height of the brazier. Imaginary lines that pass through the openings must form a right angle.

    If you create an unassembled brazier with your own hands, then the sidewalls are welded first. Then they are welded to the racks. You can not weld. This will improve the portability of the structure. In this case, each pair of posts should be made in the form of the letter "H". In this case, the ends of the racks above the horizontal partition make 1-2 cm. To securely fix the brazier to the sides of the brazier at the top of the racks, you can weld 4 protruding metal squares with dimensions of 2x2 cm. These squares and posts will need to be fastened with hooks with the shape of the letter "P".

    For added stability, you can make the ends of the racks sharp to drive them into the ground.

    Model with a throat

    On the outside, this brazier resembles a large bottle. Of course, it is depicted in different photos. The structure consists of three parts:

    1. A wide cylinder. Its height is 180-200 mm.
    2. The cut cone. The height is 100-150 mm.
    3. The narrow cylinder. Has a height of 100-150 mm.

    The lower part has many holes in it. And they are not only in the bottom, but also in the side walls. The upper ones are made at a height of 130 mm. It should be said that the presence of side openings is a very interesting feature. Proper braziers should not have such holes, because through them a lot of oxygen suits meat. It changes the chemical processes in meat, and the dish is not the way it should be.

    However, in the case of cooking meat on this brazier, this scenario does not become a reality. This is because in the brazier so much wood is burned that the lateral openings overlap with coals. Of course, with the gradual decay of coals the holes will become free. However, until this point the process of cooking meat is completed. As a result, some of the wood is wasted.

    Skewer with meat put their own hands in the throat of this brazier, that is, in the upper cylinder. During the smoldering of coal, this part becomes a flowing wind chamber.

    Such brazier is used for cooking kebab shashlik  (very tasty and depicted in many photos). The dish is a large piece of meat. Its thickness reaches 3-4 cm, and in size it resembles a small plate.

    Barrel construction

    Brazier with round  The bottom does not work as a sample with a rectangular brazier. It's because:

    • the rounded walls reflect the heat back onto the coals;
    • in the middle of the coals they quickly settle down, and at the edges they do not have time to burn out properly.

    Therefore, just cut a barrel in half or cut it yourself with a lid to create the right brazier is not enough. The problem with excessive sedimentation of coals can be solved thanks to the air duct device. There are two ways to create it:

    1. Lattice for burzhujki. It is put on the bottom. On it coals will lie evenly. In addition, there will be a space with air under it. For the influx of fresh air, it is worth making holes in the center of the bottom.
    2. Corner with dimensions 85x85 mm. It needs to make several rows of holes. Then it is welded to the bottom. Holes can be made under it or in places where its ends are placed.

    When creating a mangal portrayed from many barrels from a barrel, it is necessary to withstand the rule regarding the optimal width. That is, the workpiece should not be cut in half, but by a third or a quarter. The width of the cut must be 25 cm. Of course, in this case the recommendation regarding the correct distance between meat and coals is not observed.

    Departure to nature or to a country house is often associated with a picnic. And what kind of picnic goes without fried meat on the coals, or sausages? Even potatoes baked in a fire are much tastier than at home in the oven. In order not to build fire on the ground, you can build a brazier with your own hands. Using the prepared drawings and photos you can make a beautiful and functional product made of metal.

    Stationary brazier for summer cottages

    Having a country house can not take advantage of the opportunity to spend more time in nature. This applies to family or friendly gatherings. If you do not imagine such meetings without succulent meat fried at the stake, then it is worthwhile to take care of the installation of a brazier in the backyard.

    The barbecue in the courtyard will give you the opportunity to cook wonderful dishes on fire

    The device is much more complicated than the folding or folding. Often it is equipped with additional shelves or even the likeness of a table-top for cutting meat. Also above it there is an extract, thanks to which, the design can be installed directly in the room of the arbor or next to it. Hot smoke from wood and coal is removed through metal pipe  and does not create discomfort for vacationers. And the brazier is often covered with a fireproof brick from the ground to the hood itself.

    Stationary brazier is often used not only for cooking meat and other dishes on the grill, but also as a fireplace for heating the gazebo. Needless to say that the fireplace in addition to a cozy gazebo and a warm company creates a fabulous atmosphere in the evening?

    Making a brazier according to the prepared dimensions and drawings

    Before you start making a brazier, you need to determine its size. It depends on what company the host plans to take. If only household members (5-6 people) are guests, then it will be enough to design small size - 50 x 30 cm - for 6 skewers.

    Before you start making a brazier, decide on its size

    When the owner is preparing for a noisy barbecue party with a large number of guests (more than 10 people), the length of the brazier is calculated based on the number of skewers simultaneously installed on it. Dimensions of a large barbecue for a private house or cottage rarely exceed 100 x 40 cm. The width of the product depends on the length of the used skewers or the acquired grid of barbecue.

    Advice! Too deep the brazier is not worth doing, on this depends the amount of coals on which the dish will be roasted. Sufficient depth of construction 20-25 cm.

    The second in importance after choosing the dimensions, is the selection of material. Ideally suited for steel, the thickness of the sheet which varies from 2-3 mm (wall) to 4-5 mm (for making the bottom). The legs for the brazier can be made both from steel corners, and from metal rods.

    Manufacturing of a stationary barbecue

    The brazier is ready. For convenience of preparation of dishes on a brazier it is possible to equip a design with additional regiments and supports. Sometimes a part of a large barbecue is welded with a bowl stand or grill.

    Collapsible mobile brazier own hands

    The best gift for travelers is an easy mobile folding or folding brazier. It can be taken with you to any outing picnic or on a long trip. It is convenient in transportation and cooking. Mount and dismantle this brazier quickly and easily. Even a child can cope with the task.

    Compact folding brazier

    Important! Do not disassemble the brazier immediately after use. Give the metal a little cool, otherwise rest will turn into a solid treatment of burns.

    Mobile brazier can be purchased in ready form, but you can do it yourself. To do this, you must have at hand a photo or a finished drawing of the created product and the necessary tools:

    • bulgarian;
    • drill;
    • drill;
    • roulette;
    • bolts with nuts.

    Council. The best material  for a collapsible brazier - this is stainless steel 3 mm thick. Such material practically does not burn out and less oxidizes.

    Making a collapsible barbecue

    Armed with tools and material, you can start making a collapsible brazier:

    To increase the service life of the brazier, it can be treated with heat-resistant paint. Suitable for the treatment of car silencers. Burnished braziers - the most durable. To do this, you need to buy a black fireproof film, cover all the elements of the brazier and boil them in a solution of liquid soda for 90-100 minutes.

    Compact folding brazier

    Another miracle for tourists is a folding brazier. Its device is a bit more complicated than the collapsible one, but it is more convenient in transportation and installation. All parts of this design are connected together by means of loops, only the legs can be screwed, but they also often bend away from the main part. Convenience of transfer of such product consists that it completely develops in similarity of a suitcase the sizes advising to length and width of the bottom. The thickness of the "suitcase" does not exceed 10-15 cm. The handle is welded to the bent part of the bottom, which makes the brazier even more like a case.

    Forged braziers, as a functional element of decor

    Decorate the yard and emphasize the elegance of the style will help install a forged brazier. Such a product will not just be part of the decor. Mangals, forged from steel, will attract the attention of your guests. All because each of them is a work of art. They can be of various shapes and designs. Fantasies of blacksmiths are given out by mangals, stylized for trees, carriages, ships and even animals.

    Forged brazier

    The very creation of a product of this kind is very difficult. To do this, you will have to equip a mini forge. Get a rock, an anvil and other forging tools. Next, skillful hands and a flight of fantasy can help you make a true masterpiece and pride of the whole family. The photo of the variety of such products is again underlined.

    Often, forged braziers order on their own ideas in blacksmith shops. For starters specify the size and material forging. Then, together with the master make sketches of the product on paper and begin to work. It should be noted that the ready-made brazier is a rather impressive construction. And it can also be used as a stationary stove or fireplace.

    Forged brazier with additional shelves

    By arranging a summerhouse for summer feasts, each owner tries to make it the most comfortable and cozy for guests. Forged brazier will decorate any dacha pavilion and bring in it a note of style and harmony.

    Making barbecue from an iron barrel

    One of the inexpensive and simple ways  making barbecue is the creation of barbecue from a metal barrel. Such a product will be original and multifunctional. For manufacturing we will need:

    • any empty metal barrel;
    • door hinges;

    Brazier from a barrel with a lid

    • metal handle (preferably with a wooden cover);
    • a lattice for a barbecue;
    • fixing bolts, nuts;
    • electric bulgarian;
    • device for electro / gas welding;
    • drill;
    • grinding machine or disk.

    Important! Any barrel is suitable. The main thing is that it does not store chemical waste or combustible-lubricating materials.

    The version of the barbecue created from the barrel is two: with a lid (barbecue) and without a lid. Let's consider in more detail the manufacture of the first option.

    Brazier from a barrel without a lid

    Making mangal-barbecue with lid

    Advice! To give the barbecue barrel mobility, it is necessary to fasten 4 wheels to its legs.

    To prolong the barbecue life it must be pre-treated. For this, the inside of the barrel is smoothly ground and covered with a special substance. As a finished barbecue, any refractory paint is suitable.

    In order for the brazier to last longer, treat it with refractory paint

    The owner of the barbecue, who made the oven with his own hands, will always be the highlight of the program and an object of admiration. And your personal assistant - BBQ, will delight guests and family with delicious and healthy dishes, cooked on the grill.

    How to make brazier out of metal by yourself: video

    Brazier from metal for a summer residence: photo

    Shish kebab in the open air, what kind of rest can be desirable? If you often go out with friends or are going in the courtyard to fry meat, vegetables or even simple sausages, then you have already thought about how to build a brazier with your own hands made of metal. What sizes and model to choose, how to weld and how to paint brazier? Today we decided to discuss the key points of this necessary matter in more detail.

    Mangals portable from metal: than they are good

    Popular with modern picnic lovers on the street and barbecue grills made of brick, wild stone and even ceramics. But the main demanded material for making brazier is metal. Why is it that the metal barbecues of our people are so fond of?

    A neat forged brazier looks elegant and easy. In this compact street shish kebab, everything is arranged to the smallest detail. It will not only give you many delicious dishes, but also decorate the garden landscape

    A very functional and beautiful brazier provides for cooking any dishes you need: a brazier with a spit, a comfortable drovnitsu and even a small wooden table. The most interesting solution  designer - two wheels on one side, and a handle on the other. It turns out the brazier is not only decorative, but also easily transported from place to place

    This forged brazier with a bronze tint in the English style is a real work of art. All the little things and nuances are provided in this posh shashlik. Such a brazier is a rich ornament of the yard or garden

    It's all about their undeniable advantages:

    • The metal brazier is easily cleaned, transported, folded and dismantled if necessary;
    • Use the brazier from metal safely and conveniently;
    • Iron barbecue is easy to weld by yourself;
    • Metal keeps the heat well, so the meat is evenly and quickly prepared;
    • The cost of a metal brazier with their own hands is acceptable for any family.

    Iron braziers began to be used everywhere, and on sale of any store of garden tools are precisely available. However, it is much more pleasant and cheaper to weld a metal barbecue yourself. If you do not have welding equipment, you can make a brazier, bolted together.

    How easy it is to make a shish kebab from metal

    To create a metal brazier, it is better to use steel sheets, a perforator, metal mesh  and a welding machine. In the absence of the latter, you can do with the bolt. The barbecue itself represents an iron box on legs of a corner of a metal, steel rod or hollow iron pipe. Let's try to describe the process of creating a metal brazier for beginner kebabs.

    Step # 1 - preparation of the scheme and all necessary

    Everyone, even a beginner, knows that we need a plan first. In our case, this plan is a drawing-drawing of the future metal brazier. As detailed as possible describe all the details of your shish kebabs graphically, without forgetting to accurately reflect the sizes of the brazier from metal in figures. It is convenient to make a brazier 80-100 cm high, with a brazier size of 80x40 cm.

    A convenient portable brazier can be welded by yourself according to this scheme. In the presence of welding equipment, this work will master both beginner and "experienced" shashlik

    You can make a functional and stable metal brazier for shish kebab yourself and without welding. For this, make the details of this scheme and tighten them with bolts

    In addition to the drawing, immediately prepare tools and material for metal parts. It is better not to choose too thick steel sheets for work, otherwise the brazier will be unaffordable. The thickness of the metal should be 4-10 mm.

    Step # 2 - preparing the details for the barbecue

    We offer to prepare such accessories for installation of household brazier in height of 85 sm:

    • For support:  4 metal legs from a pipe with a diameter of 25 mm, or a steel corner. The length of each leg is 65 cm. We also prepare 2 corners or 20 mm pipes (longitudinal connection) for a strong connection between the legs. The length of the longitudinal joint is 76.5 cm.
    • For the brazier:  from the metal sheet we cut out two longitudinal walls 20x77 cm; two transverse walls 20x39 cm; steel mesh 77x39 cm; we prepare two transverse pipes for the bottom of the brazier, 39 cm in length, and several heat-resistant bricks; two handles made of metal for easy transfer of shish kebabs. Grid, bricks and crossbars for the bottom can be replaced with a solid sheet of metal 77x39 cm. In addition to the frypot, you can make a lid of steel sheet  In the size with the longitudinal edges curved inwards.

    Step # 3 - Welding the brazier

    It remains all the cooked parts welded with special equipment or tighten with bolts. Separately we weld the brazier from the walls and the bottom in the form of a grid with cross-pieces or sheet iron. The legs are welded to the basis of the brazier and strengthened by a longitudinal link. The connection is fixed at a height of 15 cm from the floor. The connection between the legs can be used to store firewood.

    The most simple and effective brazier can be welded by hand, using details cut from a metal sheet. For the legs you can use two curved iron pipes

    It is very convenient to have in this arsenal of your shish kebab such a brazier made of metal. It is easy to clean, just assembled, disassembled and stored

    The bottom of the brazier, if you decide to make it from a grid, lay out with a fireclay brick. In the longitudinal walls, it is necessary to drill the holes for oxygen, so that the air helps to kindle the firewood. It is enough to make 5 holes at a distance of 10 cm on both sides of the brazier. To the transverse walls of the frypot, we fix the handles of dense wire 10 mm so that the shish kebab can be easily transferred.

    Than to paint a brazier from metal?

    Do you need to paint a brazier out of metal and the better it is to do it, let's figure it out. Paints and other chemical coatings are not desirable to be applied to the brazier, because the meat can absorb the harmful chemicals. But today there are modern means for painting mangal, which are safe for dishes cooked in it. Another problem - the temperature in the brazier is so high that the layer of any coating can just burn.

    It is possible to use such heat-resistant coatings for a brazier:

    • Silicone Enamels  (withstand the temperature to 600);
    • Powder thermo paints  very good for barbecue, but difficult to use on their own, as they require firing at high temperature;
    • Oxidation.  This process is not simple, but possible at home. Bowl mangal need to be treated with sulfuric acid 5%, boil in a saturated solution of household soap and cook for half an hour in a solution of caustic sodium. The brazier is covered with a black non-stick layer, which keeps the metal from corrosion and rust.

    A few effective ideas for homemade shashlik

    I would like to see that not only the functional barbecue grill was functional, but also design attractive. Here are a few options for creative kebabs:

    Idea # 1 - brazier from a metal barrel

    In the old iron barrel, a part of the sidewall is cut out, a mesh made of steel is inserted and the legs are welded. It remains only to attach on one side of the barrel a patch, and on the other - a twisted tail, and you can fry the most delicious home-made shish kebab from pork.

    Here such a wonderful brazier with a lid can be made from an iron old barrel, which has long served its faithful service in the household. You just need to cut it in half and fasten it with loops

    A nice pink pig from a metal barrel will treat you with the most delicious shish kebab and baked vegetables. You just need to cut out a hole in the barrel for the barbecue, paint it and arrange it in the form of a pig, and you can start a barbecue in the open air

    This is how simple mangles made of metal cans, complete with a brazier and grid for grilling, look in production. Color can be shish kebabs can be silicone enamels or powder thermal paints

    Idea # 2 - forged brazier

    Artistic forging shish kebabs will always give a picnic grace and subtlety. Such brazier will be appreciated by your intelligent guests.

    This elegant brazier is like an expensive forged sculpture for a garden. At the bottom there is a convenient compartment for storing firewood, and the edge of the brazier is made of metal weaving, which not only keeps the skewers, but also serves as an element of forged style

    The original idea - a small shish kebab in the form of a bronze pig, lying on a forged stand. Especially this idea will appeal to lovers of barbecue from a young pork

    Very comfortable and decorative shish kebab, made in the form of an old pirate chest. Stand made of high-quality metal has drovnitsu, work surface and holders for skewers and tools barbecue. A fragrant pirate shish kebab is a real treasure for outdoor picnics

    Idea # 3 - designer shashlichnitsa on wheels

    If you have a chance to get an opportunity before the old car, you know - this is an excellent basis for creating a stylish brazier.

    This wonderful brazier is a steam locomotive for those who with pleasure surprise their friends and friends with their creativity. The middle part of this brazier is equipped with a convenient brazier, and in an improvised cabin you can store everything you need to create delicious dishes in the open air

    That's so creative and stylish you can use before the old car. The decorative brazier on wheels has everything you need for cooking your favorite dishes in nature. Surprise guests with a juicy and soft kebab right from under the hood

    The brazier is inserted in place of the hood, which looks especially creative. Surprise your guests with shish kebab "on wheels".

    Many people consider shish kebab the most desired and tasty food. Cherry wood, marinated pork, and brazier, made by skilled master hands - the "blue" dream of a seasoned gourmet. Make a dream come true and make a new spectacular barbecue with your own hands made of metal. We wish good luck and delicious results!

    Today we will talk about the invariable attribute of the majority country houses. There are many variations of metal braziers, differing ergonomics and decorative design. Let's go from simple to complex and explain how to make a brazier comfortable, while leaving room for imagination.

    Stationary or portable

    There are no special tricks in making a brazier - this is a simple iron box with holes. It is much more difficult to make it convenient, universal for different tasks and conditions. Better yet - be able to remove the iron "monster" from the eyes when not in use, or take it with you to the exit to the river, while it should fit easily with the rest of the things in the trunk.

    Stationary iron braziers are popular for other reasons. If there is no need to often transfer them from place to place, respectively, there is no weight restriction - a thicker and more durable metal can be produced.

    We offer the design of a foldable portable brazier, light and compact in the folded state, but you can always make it whole, inheriting the general principles. Approach a choice of brazier type reasonably and weighed. Remember that portable braziers are not decorated with forging, besides they are better made from steel of heat resistant varieties.

    Correctly choose and prepare materials

    Why? The main reason is the gain in weight and longevity, greater neatness. The brazier made of carbon structural steel is subject to increased scale formation during the burning of firewood, because of the cyclic heating of its walls, they are quickly "eaten up". In addition, black sheet steel is peculiar to change its structure under the conditions described, which is expressed in the appearance of waves, blisters and planar deformations on the bottom and walls. So it is likely that the portable brazier from thin carbon steel you simply can not disassemble and re-assemble.

    Considering the foregoing, it is possible to safely discard such "improvised" materials as barrels, canisters, system block casings and other disposable iron. But 40-liter cylinders for natural gas can be called suitable for a sufficiently thick metal and a radius shape, excluding the point of over-voltage. But they must necessarily be burned before use, permanently getting rid of the traces of gas condensate. Of the features of such a blank, we only point out that the small width of the cylinders limits the length of the skewers. It is more practical to use a cylinder for manufacturing smokehouses.

    On the average, the brazed carbon steel brazier should have a wall thickness of 4, and uninvolved - from 6.5 mm. For heat-resistant steel, the reinforcement is almost never required: walls from it (from 13% chromium and more than 10% nickel, with a low carbon content) of 3.5 mm thick survive the fire center practically unchanged.

    And extreme caution: any brazier will look proportionate and impressive, if the master has given proper attention to preparing the details:

    • lead the cutting as accurately as possible with a tolerance of no more than 0.5 mm;
    • fix the workpiece to be machined with clamps to the edge of the table or in the yew;
    • use the ears  larger - the larger the plane of the disc, the more accurate the cut.

    Do not forget about precautions, be sure to wear overalls, use mittens and goggles.

    We make the main box

    The width of the brazier is determined based on the length of the skewers, on average it is 45 cm. Length - depending on the volume of cooking, but preferably not less than the total length of the skewers, they are conveniently stored inside. The optimal size is 800 mm, which is enough for cooking and simultaneously preparing a new portion of coals.

    With the height is still trickier: roughly the thickness of the layer of coals on the bottom should be 1.5 times the thickness of the largest piece of meat. And the distance between meat and coals should not exceed 170-200 mm. In general, a height of 290 mm will suffice. Remember that meat should be heated not by hot air, but by thermal radiation of coals directly.

    According to the established sizes from 4 mm sheet of mark 20Х20Н14С2 (or similar) we cut out:

    • bottom 412x800 mm;
    • two longitudinal walls 800x290 mm;
    • two transverse walls 420x290 mm.

    From the "black" corner 25x25x4 mm we make a frame with oblique cuts on the corners. Important internal dimensions: 816h429 mm, you need to measure on the outer surfaces taking into account the thickness of the walls, do not forget to compare diagonals.

    Modify the side (long) walls. Centered on the long side, we cut a depth of 95 mm and a width of 10 mm, pre-drill the part to round the edge. On all walls with an interval of 30-40 mm, we make staggered holes of 10 mm for blowing from the sides.

    Bottom bottom welded  or we put two or three longitudinal corners 20x20 mm on steel rivets, it can be made of ordinary steel. We place them with an indentation of 120 mm from the edges, and another 30 mm closer to the center, make two rows of holes of 8 mm for airflow into the central part of the brazier. On the front side of the bottom we weld along the perimeter short (50-70 mm) pieces of angular steel, they can also be riveted.

    The remaining part of the "box" is the upper frame from the corner of 20x20x4 mm, welded, like the bottom one, but with the outer dimensions of 412x800 mm. On external frame shelves we make hooks in one of the presented ways:

    1. We make a pair of cuts to 12 mm and, heating the tongues reddening, we bend them outward.
    2. We compress in a vice and weld two strips of steel of the same thickness as the walls, with a 10 mm overlap and cut out hooks with a width of 20-30 mm.
    3. Cut the pieces of the corner for 2-3 cm and weld along the perimeter of the frame.

    At the corners of the bottom, 15 mm from each side, we drill a 6 mm hole. We put the bottom into the bottom frame, center and move the holes to the corner. We produce from the 6 mm studs four L-shaped cotter pins 50x150 mm. To the center of the bottom perpendicularly welded 10 mm rod. The final touch on the shelves of the upper frame make straight and oblique cuts for fixing the skewers.

    Legs and assembly diagram

    The legs of the brazier are made of meter lengths of 35 mm corners. For the possibility of installation on the ground the bottom of each leg is cooked with a "heel".

    In 35 mm from the top edge on one of the shelves an incision is made to the full depth. In the same shelf, 250 mm below, a second incision is made, then they are both joined by a longitudinal incision. In the lower part, the saw cut continues for another 40 mm. The resulting "tongue" should be folded inside the corner, aligned, grab from below with welding and cut off the projected surplus.

    At the top the incision continues for another 15 mm, but here it needs to be expanded to 7-8 mm, that is, for the thickness of the barrel wall and the shelf of the corner of the upper frame. It is recommended to handle this part of the part manually with a file, adjusting the width of the cut for a tight abutment of the legs to the body. After installing all the legs, you need to transfer them through the holes at the corners of the bottom and the frame to the scarves inside the corners, and then drill 8 mm holes into the marks. The legs should be folded "square" and drill one hole 10 mm in the center and two holes 6 mm in 150 cm from the edges of the uncut shelf.

    The mangal is going so:

    1. In the bottom frame we put the bottom.
    2. We set the walls (short cover long).
    3. We insert the upper frame with hooks behind the walls of the barbecue.
    4. We hook each leg with a hook by the wall, level and insert the cotter pin into the hole.

    After use, the brazier can be assembled with a relatively light compact pile. Inverted upper frame with a small offset is placed on the bottom. Above it - short, then long walls, all this is covered by an inverted lower frame. Now we need to put the legs on top, orienting the protruding rod between them.

    In the holes on the centers of the legs, pre-insert another 10 mm rod, pull the two pairs with threaded cotter pins. Put the opium on top and weld the rod, which is passed into the corners, to the rod fixed to the bottom. Now, to disassemble the brazier, it is enough to unscrew the cotter pins and pull the corners sideways, after which the entire pile will remain free.

    Навороты: ash-pan, smokehouse, grill-grill

    In the finale, we will tell you about some additions for barbecue, which simplify cooking and maintenance. Everything is made modular, so you can use only what is required.

    First of all, if you still assembled the brazier stationary, make it 50 cm taller than planned. At the bottom, lay a liner of 8 mm expanded metal mesh on 50 mm legs from the corner, in the center, weld the handle. This will make the burnt coals and the temperature more uniform, facilitate the removal of ash after burning.

    Using the hook system, as on the top frame, you can also supply the brazier with the lid open, and if you make the legs 30-50 cm longer in height, you will get a support for a small awning from the rain. If you are fond of cooking meat on the grill, do not be too lazy and get a square 10-12 mm stainless steel bar for it, weld it with a gap of 15-18 mm. Such grating will be heavy, stable and perfectly fit into the upper frame of the new brazier.
