In various collections " useful advice"Sewage cleaning with soda and vinegar is given as one of the universal methods that solve the problem of clogging in pipes. In practice, it turns out that the effectiveness of these funds is somewhat exaggerated - in any case, special chemical compositions, it seems to me that they work much better.

And still, if necessary, it is possible to use simple components, which make it possible to remove the pollution quickly enough. Your favorite methods, how to do it yourself - I'll tell you in the sections of our article.

Preparation for cleaning

Before you figure out how to clean the sewage system with soda and vinegar, it is worthwhile to understand what needs to be done to improve the efficiency of these reagents. The process of preparation is not difficult, but by following these simple actions, we will greatly facilitate our own lives.

If the runoff in the sewer pipe is completely blocked or slows down significantly, I proceed as follows:

  1. Determine where the clog is. If it is not continuous, i.e. the drain is still carried out, it will be a little more difficult to do, so it's worth looking at the siphons, pipe turns and joints of the knees - it's where the debris and fat deposits accumulate.
  2. If possible, remove all the mechanical impurities from the lumen  - large food waste, hair, paper, etc. Soda-vinegar mixture is not distinguished by increased chemical activity, so it can not dissolve them.

  1. I remove the maximum amount of water from the pipes, draining it with a hose through a hole in the sink or inspection hatch. The less water remains in the place of the clog, the faster the soda and vinegar will do their job.
  2. If there is a possibility, I pump the pipes using a plunger. Pressure drops destroy a dense layer of blockage. And the reaction will go faster.

Remove the clog

Method one - dry

Now I'll tell you how to clean the sewer with soda and vinegar. The first method assumes that a solution that will act on the deposits on the walls will begin to react directly in the pipe.

I use this method on a regular basis, and I do this:

  1. In the sink sink or inspection hole directly in the vicinity of the problem area I fill 0.5 cups of baking soda in dry form.

It is desirable to fall asleep in such a way that the dry powder gets on the blockage itself.
  If the drainage of the shell is hammered, it is quite easy to do, but in the case of a deeper plug, I had to show a couple of times ingenuity, pushing soda with a flexible cable or hose.

  1. 0,5 glass of table (not balsamic, not apple and especially not acetic essence) vinegar pour in the same hole. I am convinced that the liquid has got to where it is necessary - the beginning reaction is accompanied by a characteristic hiss.
  2. I close the sink or inspection hatch and wait about two hours. If the pollution was strong, then after about 40 minutes you can pour into the system another 0.5 st. vinegar. This is done so that absolutely all the soda is reacted.

  1. After two hours I open the pipe and pour 2-3 liters of hot water into it. It is advisable to use a liquid with the maximum temperature - but keep in mind that steep boiling water can damage pipes and seals, so it is worth the water to cool slightly.

As a rule, after such processing the problem with a drain disappears by itself. If the water in the sink leaves slowly, you can repeat the treatment with a plunger - the partially dissolved after chemical treatment the plug should easily break down.

Instead of vinegar is sometimes advised to use lemon juice, but its price is much higher, because I do this extremely rarely.
  You can try to experiment with a solution of crystals citric acid  - it is sufficiently active to fight organic deposits in the pipes, but at the same time it should not damage the walls.
  However, I myself have not used this substance, therefore I can judge its effectiveness solely from other people's words.

The second method is wet

The division into "wet" and "dry" methods is rather conditional: in the first case we fall asleep in a pipe with dry soda, and in the second we first prepare a grout for pouring. This technique is suitable for the removal of deep-seated blockages, which are difficult to fill with dry powder.

The instruction will be as follows:

  1. First I treat the pipe with boiling water, pouring into it about two liters of very hot water.
  2. I wait 20 -30 minutes.
  3. I prepare the solution: I take 3 parts of boiling water for 1 part of baking soda. The solution is thoroughly stirred and poured into the tube in a hot state.
  4. After 5 - 10 minutes I pour in the same vinegar. The volume of vinegar should be approximately equal to the amount of soda in the solution.

  1. Further, I act as in the first case, closing the sink and waiting one to two hours. This method is less effective, therefore, in order to combat strong blockages, you will most likely have to repeat the treatment, or supplement the procedure mechanical cleaning  using a cable.

The third way is soda + salt

If the problem is not a blockage blocking the drain entirely, but in the deposits on the pipe walls that reduce throughput  sewage, then instead of vinegar, you can use salt.

Preventive washing I do according to the following scheme:

  1. First I finish all preparatory work, removing mechanical impurities and draining excess water.
  2. In a 500-ml plastic beaker, I mix 200 g of baking soda and 100-150 g of table salt.
  3. Accurately pour the mixture into the drain through the drain hole of the washbasin or through an open inspection.
  4. Pour into the pipe 1 - 1.5 liters of boiling water and close the drain plug.
  5. I leave the team for 8 - 10 hours, and during this whole time I do not use sewerage, otherwise all efforts will go wrong.

So that you do not experience any inconvenience, it is best to perform the treatment either at night or before leaving home.

  1. When the time allotted for the reaction is over, I open the plug and flush the drain with plenty of hot water. Along with the remnants of soda and salt, the fat deposits that have accumulated on the walls for years sewer pipes  and bathroom.

Use of caustic soda

In all of the above recipes for soda, we mean exclusively baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). However, there is also caustic soda - sodium hydroxide, which is also called caustic or caustic soda. Unlike baking soda, this substance is different:

  • increased toxicity;
  • volatility;
  • the ability to corrode organic substances;
  • high reactivity.

Work with caustic soda in a well-ventilated area.
  It is mandatory to use protective equipment - gloves and glasses, protecting eyes from burns.

This product is available both in the form of a powder and in the form of a gel. If you are interested in how to clean the sewage system with caustic soda, then you should remember the simple algorithm that I used:

  1. The container with caustic is thoroughly mixed (this applies to both powder and gel formulations).
  2. Plot near the plum wipe dry.
  3. Trying to get strictly into the hole, I pour / pour in the sink two or three spoons of reagent.
  4. After this, I pour 200 ml of hot water into the tube, simultaneously washing off the caustic particles adhered to the drainage grate.
  5. I close the drain hole with a cork and leave it for two hours.
  6. After this time, I open the drain and flush with hot water. It is also advisable to wash the sink to prevent particles of unreacted sodium hydroxide from entering the skin and eyes in hygienic procedures or washing dishes.

Conclusion

Despite the fact that the cleaning of sewage pipes with soda is still inferior to the effectiveness of measures using specialized reagents, this technique can be used, and even achieve good results.

More detailed study of the technology each of you can by watching the video in this article. And in the comments to this material, I will answer all your questions, ask!

In the case of a cork that has arisen in the pipe, it is not necessary to apply mechanical methods  cleaning or special chemical compounds (which at the very right moment may end).

If the blockage is not too serious - to cope with it can and means that will always be found in the kitchen of any hostess: ordinary vinegar and soda.

Contents of the article

What is required?

So, the pipe formed clog, "Mole", " Tiretta  "Or any other chemically active compounds - no, mechanical means - too (or they do not help). You can try to clean the sewer pipe with the help of such a composition:

  1. Baking soda (100-200 g).
  2. Vinegar (100-200 ml).
  3. Boiling water (full kettle).
  4. Unnecessary rag - which you can tightly plug the drain hole.

Pay attention: it is in the "recipe" that it is about baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), and not caustic (caustic alkali).

The volume of "active ingredients" is not recommended to be increased - the chemical reaction is accompanied by excessive foaming, and as a result, after the removal of the blockage, a thorough cleaning may be required.

If vinegar in the kitchen was not found - "recipe" can be slightly changed - use soda in combination with salt (about half a glass). Add to the composition and you can and tartar (at the specified proportions - about a quarter of a glass).

There is a common and erroneous opinion that this solution can dissolve the resulting clogging. In fact, neither vinegar nor baking soda - do not dissolve organic.

When they are combined, carbon dioxide is released. In the above proportions, its amount is sufficient to create a strong head, moving along the pipe.

And since on one side (from the side of the drain, into which the solution is poured) there will be a "dead end" (a rag stuffed into the hole) - the head will be directed only towards the blockage. In fact - the result of the reaction will simply squeeze out the cork.

Why and where is clog formed?

In order not to have to eliminate the blockage - it is recommended to study the reasons for its occurrence and not to allow such a situation. Cork in the pipes is formed if in the sink often and / or in large quantities fall:

  • hair (as well as animal hair);
  • leather;
  • pieces of food and food;
  • any other small items.

In new litter can occur with less probability - their internal surface is smooth, and deposits simply have nowhere to form: under pressure, they are washed off.

If the pipes are old, the risk of a cork increases several times - their walls are often uneven, rough. For such a surface, "fat" clings to fat, various small particles.

And if the deposits began to appear somewhere in one place - their size will only increase. Most places of appearance of traffic jams are:

  • knees and turning areas;
  • siphons;
  • branch, tapping point;
  • sections of the connection (regardless of its type);
  • transitions of diameters.

It also happens that various small items fall into the sink: coins, make-up caps, scraps of plastic wrap, eyebrow tweezers. If they get stuck in a pipe - this place is guaranteed to become clogged sooner or later.

Feedback on the way

Reviews about such a tool can be found in a huge amount - the "recipe" is a popular one, and has been used for a long time.

Alexey V., 31 years old, Voronezh

About this method of cleaning it was possible to remember recently - the sink was littered, but in the house it was not habitual "". He poured soda into the pipe, poured vinegar, plug it with a stopper - in just 5 minutes the pipe started to rustle.

What is good about this option is that it acts many times faster than chemical agents that corrode clogs. However, he will not cope with any traffic jam.
Anna E., 42 years old, Ryazan

And we have never had a "Mole" at home, let alone some new cleaners. Vantuz, cable, in extreme cases - soda with vinegar. Perhaps, all because I myself - very neat, and do not allow to get into the sink is something extra.

Yes, and my husband is already in the habit of - just six months or a year to disassemble the pipe under the sink and clean it for prophylaxis (in his youth he worked as a plumber, he said, he has seen enough of what they are already a couple of months after cleaning).

Application of vinegar and soda (video)

Mode of application

In order to soda on the above "recipe", in addition to the components themselves, it is recommended to use a plunger and a cable. The plan is as follows:

  1. The clogged plum is released from the water (we bail out, wait until it flows down) and the contents (pieces of food, for example, if they stayed outside).
  2. Baking soda (dry, without any other impurities) is poured into the sink.
  3. Vinegar is poured into the sink.
  4. The hole is tightly closed with a rag immediately after vinegar infusion.

After that it is necessary to wait about half an hour. Then remove the rag and pour the boiling water into the drain, then rinse the pipe with plenty of water.

In the event that the blockage still remains, or the water does not escape as quickly as required - you can try to clean the pipeline with a cable, and / or use a plunger.

Prevention of blockages

In order not to have to use vinegar with soda, or to look for other ways to clean the pipe - it is recommended to periodically prevent the occurrence of blockages.

The frequency of such actions depends on how old the pipes are, and how far they are located to the clogs. On average, it will be sufficient to perform similar procedures approximately every 3-6 months.

The options are as follows:

  1. Use of chemical cleaners ("Mole", "Tiret", "Mr. Muscle", and so on).
  2. The above described vinegar with soda.
  3. Clean the pipe with a cable.
  4. Dismantling the pipe (available site) and (the best option).

Also, you should pay attention and remember how water flows down in the absence of clog. If this becomes slower, then the cork starts to form, and it is recommended that it immediately begin to eliminate it.

There is not a single resident who does not complain about regular sewage problems. This is argued by the presence of an unpleasant smell in the living room and poor water flow from the sink, bathtub or toilet bowl.

In the first place, the kitchen sink is heavily clogged due to the accumulation of food residues, soap, chemicals and fatty deposits. This site needs periodic cleaning for the purpose of prevention, however, when the problem caught the master by surprise, you need to quickly decide how to eliminate the clog in the sink. This is discussed in detail in today's publication.

The handicrafts that every housewife has in the kitchen can be excellent helpers if the sewage pipe is clogged. A substance that includes soda and vinegar is considered harmless both for humans and for the water disposal system, especially since it is very easy to make it. If you do not run out of water into the hole, then the system is clogged, so proceed as follows:

Now you know how to eliminate the clog in the sink correctly, even this consistency is ideal for preventing fat deposits.

Attention!   When the water goes into the drain slowly or remains in the sink in the kitchen, run the tool again, and again the process should be done in a few hours. Otherwise, it is possible to break the blockage in another accessible way.

What formulations can I apply?

If the pipe is clogged at home sewage systems  in the kitchen or in the bathroom, you can clean it and a little bit with another composition, in which there is soda. To create a sufficiently suitable ingredient you will need a flooring of baking soda and the same amount of salt. Mix these foods with each other and pour into the sink, pour hot water and leave for eight hours. It is advisable at this time not to use sewage, so the elimination of the clog should be done at night.

After the time has elapsed, open the main line with cold water and check how it goes into the drain, when slowly, you'll have to use the air vent to clean the dissolved waste cork. Such a tool is suitable for plastic and metal pipes. It can be used both for prevention purposes and for solving the problem. These methods will help to solve other issues, except how.

Soda is also used in the amount of 1 glass, it pours out into the sink, then it is poured with hot water and remains for 40 minutes. Then simply wash the water in the pipe with plain water. If the cork of mud, which is hammered a little, then this technique will be no less effective, otherwise it will be necessary to clean the system repeatedly.

Advantages of using soda for cleaning water disposal

At home, make a solution with soda to solve the problem of how to clear the blockage in the sewer pipe - this is one of the simple and budgetary ways. Therefore, we can distinguish several advantages of this process, when the sewage system is clogged:

  • you do not spend money on expensive chemical reagents to destroy cork in the pipes in the kitchen;
  • the composition where soda and vinegar is present are absolutely not aggressive for plastic and metal pipes;
  • do not emit toxic gases, because they do not poison a person with them;
  • components are found in every house, so at a fast pace you can complete the blockage, it's important not to overdo it with vinegar;
  • at home, this tool is created independently as well as the entire cleaning process;
  • vinegar at any time can be replaced by lemon juice. In addition, it is not considered less effective, but also eliminates the unpleasant odor that can be heard throughout the apartment.

Attention!   In no event, soda and vinegar are not used, unless previously used chemical means  in the sewage system in the kitchen with the aim of puncturing the garbage stopper. There is a possibility of formation of dangerous compounds that are unfavorable for humans.

Comments:

In the operation of domestic sewerage, sooner or later, there will be a need to clean the system. This is due to the fact that household sewage leaves a layer of sediment from the mud and fats on the walls of the pipes, which do not allow sewage to normally flow into the sewage system. A small clearance no longer ensures the proper functioning of the pipes. Even modern metal-plastic pipes are not insured against the formation of such clogs, so there is a need for regular cleaning of the system.

How to clean the sewer with your own hands quickly and efficiently? Various methods are suitable: mechanical cleaning with a traditional plunger or metal rope, use of chemical caustic substances. But there is a remedy that is available in the kitchen of any mistress. It is universal and helps to quickly break in 30 minutes. These are components such as soda and vinegar. A solution of these substances excoriates dirt very well.

Vinegar and soda

A bucket is required to ensure that all debris and dirty soot that accumulated in the pipe do not pour to the floor. When doing this kind of work, you have to be prepared, that the process is dirty and long. Pleasant in such cleaning is not enough, but the blockage will be eliminated of any complexity.

Chemicals

If cleaning of strong blockages due to deposits of dirt and grease is required, the mechanical method may not always be effective. In addition, often modern pipes are not always readily available, so many experts recommend the use of liquid agents and powders, which are poured into the drain hole.

To clean the sewer, you can use a variety of drugs, but you need to navigate to what they are intended for. Most chemicals are caustic, so you need to pay attention to which pipes the manufacturer recommends its tool: for metal, plastic, metal-plastic. If flushing is carried out, hands should be protected with gloves, try not to inhale evaporation. If the clogs are small, soda for cleaning pipes, which is not only much safer but also cheaper, does not have a negative effect on health, as opposed to household active chemistry, will be best.

To clean the sewer pipes at home, you can use a variety of means, including mechanical. Despite the fact that on the shelves of shops there are numerous chemicals that can quickly remove all blockages, one of the most effective and inexpensive is a mixture of ordinary soda and vinegar.

It is difficult to imagine life without running water and sanitation, but at times everyone has to experience it.

Clog can occur at any time and practically with any pipe because of the accumulation of garbage and household waste: hair, soap, dirt.

To get rid of the misfortune, you can use inexpensive means that are easy to find in any apartment - soda and vinegar.

Struggle against clogs

Clog can be formed wherever and whenever.

Most often suffer:

  • kitchen sink: "garbage" and remains of food "flow" during dishwashing here, even in spite of the absence of mesh on plums;
  • bathroom and shower: here the obstructions create hair and soap foam;
  • toilet draining: due to the wide "throat", clogs there can arise only when flushing objects that are not intended for it, for example, bags, diapers, rags.

Take into account:  after the discovery of the blockage, you can act by different methods: if it is small (water leaves with difficulty, but does not linger), you can manage on your own, if the trouble is large, it is better to contact the plumber.

If you eliminate the clogging of sewer pipes, you can use:

How to act

Both components are quite safe, they clean the small clogs well, without traumatizing the pipes themselves.

The disadvantages of the method include the inability to cope with large "jams" formed from solid elements.

How does the cleaning work? When compounds are combined, water, carbon dioxide and salt are formed. Outwardly it looks like a huge amount of foam that will begin to push outward or inward. This will help to push the blockage.

To completely get rid of debris, you can first prepare the sink by cleaning it with a plunger or breaking large parts using a rope.

You can also pre-pour boiling water in the sink and wait 20 minutes - this will help get rid of the fat layer on the walls.

For cleaning it is better to use simple soda and white distilled vinegar, you will also need a piece of unnecessary cloth and a large amount of warm boiled water.

Before starting work, you must protect your hands with dense rubber gloves.

It is important to know:  a mixture of soda and vinegar will help dissolve most of the compounds, but against large inorganic congestion (tissues, etc.) it does not work.

The method described above is suitable only for cleaning the clogged drain of shells and the bathroom - where a narrow neck can be plugged with a rag.

If the toilet is littered, it will be impossible to block its drainage, and all foam will climb up.
