Heater for a bathroom in a private house. Warming of the floors in the bathroom from the inside. What insulation material to choose for a bathroom

As practice shows, it is the insulation of the bathroom from the inside that is the process that should be given special attention. This is due to the fact that coolness, draft, dampness and other factors will have a very negative impact on comfort. What could be the reason?

In fact, factors that affect the atmosphere in the bathroom, a lot. This can be not only a malfunction in the heating system, but also improper insulation of the walls and floor, as well as the complete absence of any insulation. Solve the problem either independently or by contacting qualified specialists for assistance. Consider the question of how to insulate the bathroom, in more detail.

What materials can be used for insulation?

To date, there are many insulating materials used in cases where it is cold in the bathroom. Some of them have been used for a very long time, while others have been used relatively recently. Among all this diversity can be identified the following:

  • mineral wool;
  • cork insulation for walls in the bathroom;
  • styrofoam.

Let's consider each of the options in more detail:

  1. The most common option, which allows to make the walls of the bathroom, can be rightly considered mineral wool. This is not surprising, because such a heater, due to its properties, allows to avoid the appearance of condensation, as the walls continue to "breathe". But this heater has some negative features. In this case, we are talking about high hygroscopicity. That is, to ensure that steam and moisture do not have a negative effect on the material, making the walls warm in the bathroom it is necessary to perform its waterproofing.
  2. Cork heater for the bathroom, having wax impregnation, is somewhat more expensive than the first option, but, at the same time, it is characterized by high efficiency. The process of warming itself is not very complicated and includes 2 main stages:
  3. priming of the surface;
  4. gluing a cork insulation using a special glue.
  5. Polyfoam is popular because of its low cost. Depending on the type of finish, it must be glued to the surface, or inserted into the frame of the galvanized profile, which is especially true for those cases where as a decorative material used gypsum board. Using polystyrene foam, you can make the bath warming yourself, without recourse to specialists.

Warming of foam plastic

Warming of walls with foam plastic is the easiest, but effective method of warming walls. Before answering the question, how to insulate the walls in the bathroom with polystyrene, you should prepare everything you need:

  • polystyrene sheet;
  • adhesive for tiles;
  • putty finishing;
  • spatula of different sizes;
  • roller of rubber;
  • a construction knife, a string or a hacksaw on gypsum plasterboard ("chanterelle");
  • spatula with denticles.

When everything is ready, you can perform warming. This process includes the following steps:

  • cleaning the surface of the walls from dirt or existing coating;
  • priming solution application;
  • preparation of the glue, in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations specified on the package;
  • apply the finished adhesive to the sheets of foam with a notched trowel;
  • attach sheets of foam to the surface of the wall and gently press them. Attention, do not put too much pressure on the foam. Otherwise, it will just break;
  • using a rubber roller, "roll" the entire surface of the sheets, ensuring good adhesion and uniform distribution of the glue;
  • when everything is ready, the finishing putty is applied to the foam plastic;
  • after the putty has dried, the surface should be treated with sandpaper and apply a paint and varnish coating.

Thermal insulation with the use of "warm" plaster

"Warm" plaster began to be used more recently, but, thanks to high efficiency, quickly became popular. It is also worth noting that many simply do not know how to properly use this kind of plaster mixture and that's why they are afraid to buy it.

In fact, as a basis for "warm" plaster, conventional cement is used. The main difference is that the filler is not sand, but specific additives designed to reduce the degree of thermal conductivity.

To date, the market presents 3 types of this mixture, allowing you to answer the question of how to make a bathroom warm. Let's consider each of them in more detail:

  1. Compositions with vermiculite.  Mineral, referred to as expanded vermiculite, is used as a filler. This material has a very low weight and an extremely poor degree of thermal conductivity;

Good to know: Due to good antiseptic characteristics, this kind of plaster can be used in those rooms where the humidity level is very high.

  1. Compositions with sawdust.  In such plaster, the filler is sawdust of wood, as well as cellulose. It is not recommended to use them for warming the bathroom, because otherwise the mold will appear on the surface of the wall, which means that it can not be used to answer the question of how best to insulate the bathroom;
  2. Compositions with expanded polystyrene.  Granules of expanded polystyrene, which are part of the plaster, provide all the properties necessary for high-quality insulation. This kind of plaster is not afraid of moisture and can be used for warming the bathrooms, and also will answer the question of how to insulate the ceiling in the bathroom.

"Warm" plaster, responding to the question of how to make a bath warm, like any other material, has its pros and cons. Let us consider them in more detail.

The pluses include the following features:

  • the application of the mixture does not require much time;
  • there is no need to level the surface;
  • good adhesive properties;
  • after the application, "cold bridges" do not appear.

Negative properties:

  • if the bathroom is cold, in order to get a really good result, you will need to apply the plaster mixture with a thick enough layer. For example, to obtain an effect comparable to the use of foam, the layer of plaster should exceed the thickness of the foam plastic by a factor of 1.5;
  • this kind of plaster can not be finished, in this connection, its further processing with a finishing material is required.

Before you begin to apply the plaster, it is necessary to prepare the surface accordingly. Walls must be cleaned of dust and dirt, then allow to dry and apply a primer mix. After completing the priming, you can start to prepare the mixture.

Answering the question about how to properly insulate the bathroom, it is important to remember that the volume of the finished mixture should be such that it can be used up no more than 2 hours.

Plastering is done with a wide spatula. Do not immediately apply a too thick layer exceeding 2 cm. Before applying each subsequent layer, the applied plaster should dry 4-4.5 hours. Otherwise, it is possible to encounter such a phenomenon as the appearance of cracks and the peeling of the coating.

Warming of the floor in the bathroom

Answering the question about why the bathroom is cold and warming the walls in the bathroom, do not forget about the surface of the floor. It also needs to be suitably warmed, because only in this case, the result will really be good.

To date, one of the most relevant and effective options, on the right can be considered a device of water or electric warm floor. The popularity of this type of insulation is also effective in that, in addition to heating the floor, the temperature in the bathroom also increases.

For information: As practice shows, for insulation, electric mats are most often used, since their installation is performed in a very short period of time and does not require long surface preparation.

If we compare the electric warm floor with the water, we can distinguish several main advantages in favor of the first option:

  • installation does not require large financial costs;
  • the floor can be used irrespective of the main heating system;
  • the service life of the electric warm floor is more than years;
  • is highly reliable;
  • practically does not change the thickness and height of the floor, while the system using circulating water, although it helps to answer the question of how to make the bathroom warmer, but increases these parameters from 4 to 8 cm.

The installation process is fairly simple and includes the following steps:

  1. Substrate preparation. They can be both already available, and again made a coupler;
  2. Electric mats are fixed on the base;
  3. After the installation is completed, it is necessary to adjust the temperature so that it can provide the most comfortable atmosphere in the room.

After that, the insulation of the bathroom in the house can be considered complete. If you still have more questions. you can find out the answers to them by watching the video.

Qualitative insulation depends largely on the properly selected material, the choice of which, in addition to the color palette and aesthetics, should pay attention to their quality and technical characteristics. Today the construction market offers a huge range of different thermal insulation materials, among which for insulation of walls in the bathroom you can choose glass fiber, mineral wool or extruded polystyrene foam.

How to keep warm in the bathroom

Before you begin to warm the walls, you need to take care of the heat, which will need to be maintained. Heating by means of radiators in this case is not able to fully cope with the fulfillment of this task. In addition, they heat only in the heating season. It is for this reason that experts recommend installing an electric heater in the bathroom, for example in the form of a warm floor.

For the device of a warm floor a two-wire cable is used, which is laid on the floor with a certain frequency. The more often the heating wire rings are located, the more efficient the floor heating will be. The laid construction is poured with a concrete screed, only one wire is left outside, intended for connection to the network.

The warm floor in the bathroom allows you to enjoy the warmth even after turning off the central heating.

Ways of warming the walls in the bathroom

The walls of the bathrooms can be laid out using a variety of materials. Most often it is brick and concrete. These materials are excellent moisture and cold, and therefore before the start of insulation they need to be finished with waterproofing materials. After processing of brick and concrete walls, you can proceed to their insulation, for which you can use two methods.

Method one:

Wall foam foam or extruded polystyrene foam;
- on top of the heat-insulating material, glue a moisture-resistant plasterboard sheet;
- lay the ceramic tile next layer.

Method two:

Make a metal frame from the wall profile;
- between the vertical frames of the frame, put the chosen insulation in two layers;
- pull isosphere  on top of the received structure;
- attach two layers of gypsum board to the frame;
- finish the wall.

When carrying out work, it is necessary to take into account that the warming of the walls leads to their thickening, and this helps to reduce the useful area. Especially it concerns the second method, where a metal frame is used.

Bathroom - a room in the house that should be warm at any time of the year. Therefore, when making repairs, you need to take care not only of the design, but also of the insulation. Choosing the material for walls and floors, you need to pay attention to their technical characteristics.

Cold in the bathroom and high humidity are quite common phenomena. Especially if the room is located on the side of the entrance. To avoid this, you need to carefully think over the insulation of the bathroom. And, first of all, it is necessary to approach the choice of material responsibly.

To insulate the bathroom most often use such materials:

  1. Mineral wool. Mineral fibers, of which this material consists, let air through the heat-insulating layer. And, therefore, there will be no condensation on the wall and ceiling of the room.
  2. Styrofoam. One of the most commonly used heaters. It keeps the heat well and repels moisture. Of the main drawbacks can be identified that the foam does not pass steam well, and therefore under the thermal insulation layer will accumulate condensate, which leads to the appearance of mold, fungus and the destruction of walls.
  3. Polyurethane foam. The material is durable, vapor-permeable, moisture resistant and refractory. Due to the low weight does not give additional load on the ceiling and walls. It can be sprayed on any surface, it is well connected to the surface.

Warming of the walls of the bathroom

As a heater for walls and ceiling foam foam can act, which does not absorb moisture. When insulating the bathroom from the inside, you need to take into account that any material makes the area of the room smaller.

To warm the walls you need to perform several stages:

  1. Clean the wall from the finishing material and plaster and apply a preparation that will prevent the appearance of the fungus.
  2. On the foam plastic, apply glue and apply to the wall, press it lightly so that the material sticks.
  3. On top of the foam plastic moisture resistant gypsum board is glued.
  4. On the plasterboard, put ceramic tile or any other finishing material. Tiles are most often used for the bathroom, as it does not allow moisture to pass through.

There is another version of the insulation of the walls:

  1. To produce a metal frame made of a wall profile for GKL.
  2. Put the insulation in two layers.
  3. Above stretch the isosphere.
  4. Glue in two layers of moisture-resistant plasterboard.
  5. Perform finishing work.

In order to keep the bathroom warm, good ventilation is also important, which will take the steam out. This design also needs to be insulated. To do this, a special grille with a fan is installed on the ventilation holes, it draws steam from the room and at the same time cold air does not penetrate inside.

Do not forget about the sewerage shaft, it must also be insulated, because through it penetrates into the room draft.

Warming of the ceiling in the bathroom

The ceiling in the bathroom, like the walls, needs to be insulated. Because on it the most part of a moisture collects, and, therefore, here first of all mold is formed. And to avoid this, you need to perform a number of works:

  1. Begin the work with the cleaning of the old coating.
  2. Treat the ceiling with an antifungal gel.
  3. Apply to the ceiling putty.
  4. Attach the heater. It will not only eliminate condensate, but will also serve as a good soundproofing device.
  5. At the top of the heater put finishing material, most often use plastic, but also demanded are stretch ceilings.

Warming of the floor in the bathroom

After you choose the suitable insulation for the floor, you can start the work:

  1. Take out of the room everything that can be removed, the floor must be free.
  2. Remove the old coating. By the way, the heater can be put on top of the tiles, but then the room will be smaller.
  3. Align the concrete foundation.
  4. Put the insulation.
  5. At the top of the heater put a couple layers of vapor barrier material.
  6. Make a reinforced mesh screed. On the perimeter of the room to walk through the foam, so that the screed does not touch directly to the walls. In this way, temperature and cracks can be avoided.
  7. After the screed has thoroughly dried, put a new base, for example, linoleum or tile.

If you insulate the floor in this way, then the bathroom will never be damp.

"Warm Floor" system

Most often the floor in the bathroom is tiled with ceramic tiles. And if in the summer it is comfortable to walk on it, then in the cold time of the city it is better to take care of the warmth for the feet. To do this, they came up with the "Warm Floor" system. It consists of heating mats. They are sold in different sizes. In addition to the electric version of floor heating, there is still heating with hot water. This option is cheaper, but not always available due to the fact that the quality of cleaning in the water supply system is low. Therefore, most often they resort to an electric warm floor in the bathroom.

The electric floor is not an independent heating system, but only an annex to the central heating system.

To hold a warm floor in the bathroom you need to perform several stages:

  1. It is necessary to prepare a solid foundation, it must be dry. The old floor in the room may come up, if it is uneven or damaged, then you need to re-lay the cement screed.
  2. Secure the electric mats to the base.
  3. On each mat there are two wires of 4 m length, they are connected to an electrical network with a voltage of 220 V. This should be remembered by laying mats on the floor.
  4. Top linoleum.

The system can be programmed to any temperature, and it can work at intervals.

Advantages of a warm floor are:

  • low cost of installation work;
  • independence from the operation of central heating;
  • long service life;
  • a slight increase in the thickness of the floor in contrast to the water heating system.

All work on the insulation of the floor is simple, they can be carried out independently and, thus, save on construction work. And, most importantly, to be sure that the work is done qualitatively and now it will be warm in the bathroom.

In one of the previous articles, we talked about . Today we will talk about how to insulate the bathroom in a private house and apartment from the inside. We will consider the issue in a comprehensive manner, starting with the selection of materials and ending with the methods of installation. In this case, we will take into account the main feature of the bathroom - high humidity. As you know, if the room has a lot of moisture, it's cold and there is no ventilation, then the formation of the fungus is simply inevitable. Therefore, insulation must be considered in conjunction with the heating system in the form of a towel warmer and good, but moderate stretching, better forced.

The reasons for the lowered temperature in the bathroom

Accepting the soul becomes hard labor if the bathroom is cold.

Bathroom in the apartments does not belong to heated rooms, so there is no battery in it. But there is , the main purpose of which is to keep a comfortable air temperature. In a private house   you do it yourself, so you can put the batteries in the bathroom, at least in the toilet, even in the pantry - it's yours. Before you insulate the bathroom in a private house or apartment it is worth considering the feasibility of this event.

Additional insulation is necessary if there is cold. Causes of low temperature:

  • slots in windows (if this is a private house);
  • too powerful exhaust with natural draft;
  • cracks in the walls or floor - this also happens;
  • insufficient power of the heated towel rail.

To begin with, the cause should be eliminated, if the result does not suit you, then only the insulation of the bathroom from the inside remains. It should be remembered that there is always a lot of moisture in it, and some heaters are afraid of it. Insulate everything completely: floor, walls, special attention should be paid to the ceiling, because through it comes the most heat.

If the bathroom is too strong hood or not enough powerful towel, then goose bumps after the shower you are provided. Correction of these defects usually removes the need for warming, if it is an apartment.

Why is the insulation of the bathroom from inside? The layout in apartment buildings is designed so that the bathroom is not bordered by the street. That is, its walls go into the entrance. The walls in the bathroom are thin, because they are not load-bearing structures, but simply an autonomous concrete box. In brick houses, also the partitions are not thick. External insulation of walls may be required only for a bathroom in a private house, and the floor is still peeled from the inside.

How to insulate the walls in the bathroom

Do not overdo it with glue-foam, a layer of 2 cm is enough.

Before you insulate the bathroom in the apartment you need to get rid of all surfaces from the finish. In the ideal case, they should be even, but it is not necessary. On the walls to apply antiseptic, in order to avoid the formation of harmful bacteria there or at least to delay this process as far as possible. On the treated surface, a heater is applied.

Before you insulate the bathroom in the apartment you need to choose a thermal insulation material. Possible options:

  • styrofoam;
  • extruded polystyrene foam;
  • penoizol;
  • cork agglomerate;
  • stone wool.

Mineral cotton wool or glass wool in general is better not to consider, as to insulate the wall in the bathroom from the inside you need a moisture-repellent material. There is no point in resting on minvat, when there is something to choose from. Stone wool (it is basaltic) does not absorb moisture, but it still requires a vapor barrier. It is laid between the ventilation port and the thermal insulation. Ventisazor is the distance between the trim and the heater.

Better, of course, to use this material to insulate the bathroom in a private house outside, then the result will be generally excellent. About,   we wrote in one of the previous articles. If we are talking about a wooden house, then it is necessary to protect not only the insulation from the moisture, but the construction itself. In this case, basalt cotton wool will also be very practical. Warming of the bathroom in a wooden house is carried out from the inside, and the basalt cotton wool is insulated with a steamer. In this case, the material breathes and the moisture that somehow gets into the insulation, it will successfully leave it, and the tree will guide it out, because it is also a breathable material.

Wooden house is better to insulate outside with rock wool.

In the apartment it is better to insulate the bathroom from the inside with expanded polystyrene or its derivatives. They say that the cork agglomerate is a good material, but too expensive. Pay is mainly for exotic material (cork bark) and environmental friendliness. The indices in it are no better than that of penoizol:

  • conducts air;
  • does not absorb moisture;
  • does not support burning;
  • thermal conductivity 0.4.

In other words, nothing special, much less put a cork agglomerate under the finish does not make sense at all. Hence, we choose from foam, foam and penoizol. It will be simpler and cheaper to do everything with polystyrene 5 cm thick, not less. Probably, on top of a heater it will be necessary to put a tile. On the foam plastic tiles can be laid immediately, but only if it is fixed with fungi. Considering the fact that the walls are very thin, the dowels can not be hammered, so you need to make a rigid construction and sew all the moisture-resistant plasterboard.

How to insulate the walls in the bathroom with polystyrene foam:

  • metal guides are installed;
  • under them the foam is adhered to the mounting glue-foam;
  • all is sewed up with a moisture-resistant plasterboard;
  • tiles are laid.

Glue foam is a new method of installing expanded polystyrene boards. She perfectly keeps a heater and if that will come off, only "with meat". The degree of adhesion of glue-foam is 0.3 mPa, and the degree of cohesion of the foam is 0.15 mPa, which is half the size.

Adhesion is the adhesion between different surfaces. Cohesion is a cohesion between the molecules of the same material.

After the sheets of foam have stuck to the wall, the joints also need to be mapped. Wall warming in the bathroom should be carried out in conjunction with the thermal insulation of the ceiling, and better than the floor.

How to insulate the ceiling in the bathroom

Glued to the ceiling foam can be plastered and painted without additional finishing.

The ceiling in the bathroom is insulated using the same technique as the walls. Materials need to be selected completely water resistant. Since the ceiling does not fit heavy finishing finish, namely tile, the installation method can be simpler. How to insulate the ceiling of the bath:

  • on the foam sheets, apply glue-foam - along the perimeter with an indent from the edges of 2 cm and a snake in the center;
  • the sheets are pressed against the ceiling and held for about a minute;
  • it is necessary to wait until the foam seizes (about an hour) and blow out all the cracks;
  • after complete polymerization of the glue foam, the excess is removed with a stationery knife;
  • the foam is shipped through the fiberglass reinforcing mesh;
  • a water-based paint is applied over the puttying agent.

Particular attention should be paid to the location of the insulation on the ceiling and the wall. The joint should be absolutely tight. If such an installation option does not suit you, then you can make the insulation of the ceiling of the bathroom under a moisture-resistant gypsum board. The technique is the same as for walls.

If it is a private house, then it is better to lay the heater over the room, that is, in the attic. At the same time, it is necessary to lay a vapor barrier on the inside, provide a ventilation port and sew it with plasterboard. The vapor barrier layer should be absolutely airtight, for this purpose the rolls are overlapped, and the joints are glued with a reliable adhesive tape.

How to insulate the floor in the bathroom

Scheme of floor insulation under the screed and installation of a water-heated floor.

Warming of the floor in the bathroom is done under the screed, as it will then be tiled. Immediately decide: whether there will be installed a system of floor heating or not, and which one. This will determine the thickness of the insulation, the presence or absence of reflective insulation. Warm floors are electric and water. In the first case - this cable, and in the second - . Also there is an infrared film electric floor. It fits under any cover: tile, linoleum, laminate.

Warming is carried out with foam plastic. If there are no warm floors, then enough:

  • lay a damper belt around the perimeter;
  • glue the foam with tile adhesive to the floor;
  • put reinforcing mesh made of metal;
  • set the beacons and fill the screed.

The screed layer must be at least 3 cm. Before filling in the cement, check that the foam does not "walk" - it does not spring in the center of the sheet. If you found springing places, then they need to be cut into squares, thereby removing the tension. How to insulate the floors in the bathroom under the screed with a warm floor? The first option is to do everything the same as written above, only on the grid to dilute the system of the warm floor (pipes or cable). But in this case, a reflective insulation must be placed under the grid.

To make it easier to use special foam mats. They are:

  • with foil coating and marking;
  • with plastic tubercles, between which pipes are laid.

For the insulation of the floor, a foam with a density of 25 kg / m is used. cu. Less is impossible, more - you can.

If you decide to use infrared warm floors, then they are laid directly under the tile. In the presence of warm floors, only a layer of foam plastic is 20 mm.

Outcomes

What is better to insulate the bathroom? The optimum option is a foam or extruded polystyrene foam. The latter has a higher density, but it is more expensive. On the walls, the insulation is laid under the water-repellent plasterboard, which will serve as the basis for tile. Tiles, you can put and on polystyrene, but only if it is fixed with dowels. In the bathroom the walls are thin, the dowels are inconvenient to use, it is easier to glue foam on glue-foam.

Warming of the ceiling in the bathroom with polystyrene can be done both under the gypsum cardboard, and under the plaster, which eventually is painted with acrylic paint. Floors are insulated under the screed. You can additionally mount a system of warm floors of different types. For the floor you need a foam with a density of 25 kg / m. cu.

Many complain of dampness in the apartment. Excess moisture leads to the appearance of mold, various fungal organisms. The most difficult thing is to remove excess moisture in the bathroom. Water condenses on building structures, on mirrors.

Therefore, residents of apartments in high-rise buildings have to think about how to insulate the bathroom.

Central heating works for a certain period. Hot water is also not always present in taps. Such an atmosphere does not have to take water procedures.

To make the bathroom warm and comfortable, always, it is necessary to do its warming. Now there are technologies and materials that make it possible to perform works quickly and inexpensively.

Bathroom heating

Warmth in the bathroom is very important for all family members. Click on the photo to enlarge.

Warming of the bathroom offers the use of insulation materials. But first we need to take care of the heat, which we will keep. Heating with radiators does not work very well.

In addition, at some point the batteries are turned off. Therefore, builders recommend to equip the bathroom with warm floors with electric heating.

A two-wire cable is used to heat the floor. The heating wire is laid on the floor with a certain frequency. The more often the cable rings are located, the greater the heating effect can be achieved.

On top of the construction is a concrete screed. Outside, only the wire for connecting the device to the network is output.

Now heating in the bathroom can be turned on even after switching off the central heating. Towels and bathrobes will dry quickly. Dampness will disappear forever. Staying in the bathroom will be pleasant and comfortable.

Advantages of warm electric floors:

  1. simplicity of installation;
  2. possibility of temperature adjustment;
  3. along with the coolness, the moisture will disappear.

To the disadvantages of additional heating can be attributed additional spending on the use of electricity.

Wall warming

The walls of bathrooms can be made of different materials, but most often they are made of brick or concrete. These materials perfectly conduct moisture and cold. Therefore, before the insulation, they should be treated with moisture-proof materials.

How's the bathroom? First, the construction must be made impermeable to moisture.

After all, concrete just seems monolithic. In its thickness is a lot of cracks and capillaries, which can move moisture. Due to the difference in temperature in the room and outdoors, humidity often condenses in the wall thickness.

Wet walls will last less than the allotted time. High humidity is dangerous not only for wallpapers and furniture. If the house settles fungus and mold, living in such a room will affect the health of its inhabitants.

Therefore, the walls of the bathroom before the insulation is treated with penetrating waterproofing or liquid rubber. These materials do not allow moisture to pass through.

When the waterproofing is dry, you can start warming the walls from the inside in the bathroom. What heat insulation material should I use? The most popular and inexpensive insulation - polystyrene foam and mineral wool.

There are cheaper insulators, for example sawdust or expanded clay, but for their use it will be necessary to build a wooden structure that will reduce the size of so small a room.

For heating the walls, you can also install heated towel rails. Now you can buy water and electric models. They will help to raise the temperature in the room.

If hot water is rare, buy combined or electric heated towel rails.

Which insulation should I choose

In the existing market there are many names of heaters, we will stop at the most popular ones.

Mineral wool

Fibrous can be used indoors. It is safe for health and does not contain harmful substances. Make mineral wool from melts of rocks such as basalts or dolomites. The insulating material has a low thermal conductivity and absorbs noise well.

However, the insulation structure of mineral wool has also negative aspects:

  1. deciding how to properly insulate the bathroom, the walls will have to build a skeleton for insulation mats, the space in the bathroom will be less;
  2. wool is afraid of moisture and it will have to be protected with tapes from water, if moisture penetrates the film, the heater can not perform its function.

Styrofoam

Plates of expanded polystyrene can qualitatively perform the insulation of walls in the bathroom.

The material has a cellular structure, so it is very light.

Thermal insulation with expanded polystyrene. Click to enlarge.

For insulation boards, you do not have to mount the fastening system.

Expanded polystyrene can simply be glued with a special glue composition to the wall surface.

If the walls are uneven, then the insulation is additionally fixed with plastic dowels.

The styrene heater is hygroscopic. It can serve in conditions of high humidity.

The material is easy to cut with a knife.

Styrofoam can be purchased in plates of different sizes and thicknesses.

Warming of the floor

Warming of the floor in the bathroom is also worth starting with waterproofing. After all, all the moisture that falls on the walls, still flows to the floor. If an accident occurs, the water will quickly penetrate into the neighboring apartment.

How can this be prevented? It is necessary to use waterproofing materials of penetrating or okleychnogo type. But it's best to apply liquid rubber to the surface. Having dried out, the material completely isolates the building structures from the penetration of moisture.

Warming the floor in the bathroom with polystyrene or cotton wool is not very practical. Raise the floor, over the insulation of the construction will have to build an additional screed to put the tile or laminate. Therefore, it is more practical to arrange a system of warm floors.

Variants of warm floors in the bathroom

There are various options for heating the floor in the bathroom. You can heat the floor with hot water, you can install an electric heating cable or special heating mats in the floor base.
