Wooden facades, restoration or new decoration. Types and characteristics of facades made of wood

Wooden lining, called in the everyday use of lining, is a popular way of finishing the walls not only internal, but also external. It is the tradition of planking the walls that formed the basis for such a common method of finishing the facade as siding. Under the lining can hide both the usual brick, and frame walls. The house, fully lined with planks, looks like a real wooden; But the tree can decorate and individual fragments of the facade. Wooden lining is one of the ways of exterior wall warming by the "dry" method, a kind of so-called hinged ventilated facade. Carpenters or carpenters are hired to perform the plating. Often such services are offered by firms that manufacture lining.

To be dry
The cladding should be ventilated. Between the skin and the wall or (in the case of a heat-insulating layer) water vapor can condense between the skin and the heater, and humidity is the enemy of both wood and walls, and heat-insulating material (especially mineral wool). To avoid humidification of the walls lined with wood, in their design the ventilated space is provided. Separating the planking from the insulation or wall, it ensures the removal of water vapor from under the cladding. We advise you to purchase a windproof film. It is fixed either directly to the walls, or (in the presence of a heater) directly to its surface. The film protects the walls from blowing, and the insulation - from mechanical destruction by intense air currents; while the film does not allow water to pass through, but makes it possible for the vapor to escape freely from the inside to the outside. In addition, the moisture condensing under the lining drains over the surface of the film and is removed through the ventilation gap.

Frame
For the installation of the skin, a frame is used - a bearing sub-structure, to which the lining is attached. The frame consists of impregnated (that is impregnated with special compounds) wooden slats 3-5 cm wide; if the building needs to be insulated, the frame racks are often made from wider boards, between which the thermal insulation material is placed. In this case, the distance between the pillars depends on the width of the insulation boards, since the rafter must densely fill the space between the frame members.

Click and increase

If the wall is not insulated, the carcass rails are placed every 40-60 cm. If the planking boards are placed horizontally, the slats to which they are attached must be installed vertically. Good specialists do not attach the frame to the uneven wall. First, using the level, they check if it is flat enough. Any deviations from the vertical and horizontal levels, laying under the rails of the frame of the strip of impregnated plywood. It is necessary to check that the frame rails are nailed or bolted to the wall of the house with only one fixing element in width.

Two fasteners next to each other could impart excessive rigidity to the structure, and the frame must be able to move due to changes in temperature and humidity. It is best to have special elliptical holes in the laths at the fastening points, providing a play in it within 1 cm. In this case, the fastening of the frame to the wall will be more elastic, which increases the strength of the lining.

Wall coverings
Before the first board connects to the frame, make sure that the workers have placed it at a level no lower than 30 cm from the surface of the soil - this will protect the sheath from splashing rain drops falling on the ground. The way of fastening boards depends on their profile. The boards with straight edges are overlapped so that the top board partially comes to the bottom. In this case, the joints overlap and water does not penetrate the lining. A similar effect allows you to reach and boards with the so-called quarter, as well as grooved boards, which are joined by the principle of "groove-comb." The horizontal skin starts from the bottom of the wall. Vertical lining is made either from planks joined on a "groove-comb" principle, or from boards with straight edges. In the latter case, the boards are stacked next to each other, and their joints are closed by narrower strips-nashchelniki-mi. You can do the opposite - to place the strips-covers on the back (that is, behind the boards) so that the boards rest on them from both sides. The cladding can also be fastened and diagonally.

It is necessary to prompt the performers to start work on facing from large fragments of walls. Remaining after the adjustment of long boards, scraps will be useful for finishing the details of the facade - with this approach, the waste will be less. Ensure that workers attach boards with nails or screws resistant to rust, galvanized. To prevent cracks in the boards during screwing, the screws should be placed at least 10 cm from the edge. Before screwing the screw, you must first make a hole in the board. It should be slightly smaller than the diameter of the screw. Check that the screws of the screws do not stick over the surface of the boards and are not too deep.

For strength and appearance
Under the influence of sunlight and precipitation, the facade boards can be biologically destroyed and therefore need protection. To preserve the color and texture of wood, it is worth choosing a colorless varnish. To change the shade of wood, it can be covered with toning varnish or decorative impregnate, which will protect against fungal lesions. If the kind of natural wood does not inspire you, you can paint the lining. The wooden facade needs to be inspected every 4-5 years and, if necessary, in replacement or renovation of the decorative coating. To avoid these problems, you can immediately decide and use expensive wood teak or cedar, which does not require protection. On the market there are also facade boards, painted in factory conditions. Executors must independently cover with paint only trimmed ends of boards.

WHAT ELEMENTS SHOULD BE SPECIAL ATTENTION
Umbrella dowels supporting mineral wool plates should be deepened no less than 5 cm into the masonry of solid bodies
and a minimum of 7.5 cm in the masonry made of hollow bricks.
Separate strips of wind insulation film should be fastened together with a special mounting self-adhesive tape.
The planking boards that are joined in the groove-and-groove type should always be set up with a comb upwards, and with the groove downwards, the dripping rainwater does not penetrate the joints of the planks.
If the joints of horizontal planking boards are on the same line, it should be masked with a vertical strip for the purpose of protecting from water and improving the appearance of the facade. Ventilated space under the lining should be at the bottom of the wall to have an inlet for air flows, and under the canopy of the roof there is an outlet. The lower vent clearance should be protected by a net so that insects and rodents do not penetrate there. The lower ventilation gap must be provided with a tin edging with a drip for draining the condensate out of the wall.

A wooden house is not only a warm and cozy, but also a very beautiful dwelling, which can be decorated to your liking.   The decoration of the facades of wooden houses is possible in dozens of different variants, and it is often difficult for the owner to orient himself in the richness of possibilities.

This is painting, and all sorts of cladding options, and various decorative elements.   Your attention is offered several tips on how to decorate the facade of a wooden house.

Lining Options

The first question that confronts the owner: is it worth covering the natural beauty of the tree with various facade materials, or is it better to simply paint the house? Both variants have their advantages: the painting costs less, but the cladding gives an opportunity to create an additional layer of thermal insulation, and the building will be reliably protected from both cold and negative natural influences.

From the decorative point of view, the facing opens up wider possibilities. In the construction industry today, the following types of materials for facade decoration:

These are just a few options for how to decorate the facade of a wooden house using modern facing materials. You can also use tiles, sew a house with a lining or block house, there are other options. This cladding will allow you to choose any color of the building.

Advantages of painting

Facing looks beautiful, but almost all options have a common disadvantage: they cover the natural beauty of the tree, thereby leveling out one of the main advantages of this kind of materials. Because of this, simple painting or varnishing also does not lose its relevance, and they are universally used for finishing wooden buildings. For facade works, several types of paints can be used:

  1. Covering. They create a blank layer of paint that hides the wood pattern and provides a lasting protection. This group includes alkyd, acrylic paints, dyes based on silicone, etc. They can have a glossy or matte shade, which will allow you to choose the best solution for painting.
  2. Textured. Translucent compositions do not hide the natural beauty of wood, while water-based paints are highly ecological and do not reduce the safety of the house. Textured paints can simultaneously protect the building from biological and other threats, while leaving it as beautiful as the day of completion.

Painting will cost a lot less than facing, so it remains the most democratic option for finishing. An additional decoration can be the decoration of the facade of the house with wood carvings: now it is gaining popularity again, and today this traditional form of Russian art has achieved real perfection.

How to choose the right color for the facade

Picking the colors of the facade is a simple task if you know a few basic principles. The classic solution is a darker roof and a light facade, while it is important to choose the blend of shades.

With the blue color of the roof, white, beige or yellow walls will look good, similar shades will suit the green roof. If the roof is brown, you can paint the house in a light turquoise or light green.

Avoid excessively bright colors, tiring eyes, in addition, it is not recommended to combine in the design of one house more than two or three shades, otherwise the building will look alapisto. It is interesting that the roof and the façade are painted in different shades of the same color.

In the network, you can find dozens of programs that offer you to compare colors and check how much different shades will be combined.

There are a lot of options for finishing a wooden house, and each owner will be able to decorate his home according to his own taste. Solutions are limited only by your imagination and desires, and life today can realize the most original ideas.

One of the most popular finishes of the facade of the house is a tree, although this material is not cheap. Wooden decoration gives coziness and comfort to the house. At first glance, facing a wooden facade seems like a simple job, in fact requires professional qualifications and training. Read a review of the species of planken here:

Features of wooden facades

The tree is a symbol of comfort. This facade possesses not only low thermal conductivity, but also is visually perceived as something warm and domestic. The tree gives great design possibilities, it can be combined with stone, metal, concrete and glass.

Wood is very popular in the construction and decoration of buildings due to its main advantages:

  1. High level of specific strength, which is equal to the strength of steel and fiberglass.
  2. Low thermal conductivity.
  3. The tree is well suited to all types of machining (wood can be given any shape).
  4. Aesthetic properties. Wood has its own pattern, which they try to replicate on artificial materials and stones.
  5. High "breathing mode".

Despite all its positive qualities, like all finishing materials, wood has its drawbacks:

  • Light flammability. In order for the material to be fire-resistant, it is treated with special compounds before finishing.
  • High hygroscopicity. In order that the tree does not accumulate moisture, it is also treated with special means.
  • Exposure to fungi and putrefaction. With this disadvantage it is easy to cope with the help of antiseptics.

Types and characteristics of facades made of wood

The device of a ventilated facade of a wooden house

Wooden houses taking into account the climate of the larger territory of our country require additional warming. And since the tree has "breathing properties" and is able to give and take away moisture, the best solution for finishing is a wooden ventilated facade.

There are several rules for organizing a ventilated facade:

  • To better insulate the building and make additional insulation, a mineral wool warmer is used, the thickness of which should be at least 10 cm.
  • Before the installation of thermal insulation, the surface of the walls must be covered with a special profile crate, which serves as a frame for the finishing material.
  • Next, after the insulation, a vapor barrier membrane is attached, which is the protection of the insulation from external moisture, and, moreover, passing it from the wooden walls.
  • After the waterproofing film, the entire structure is covered with a finish, taking into account the ventilation gap.

Warming of the wooden facade of the house

When choosing a heater it is necessary to take into account the fact that pressure drops inside and outside the building cause the effect of loss of warm air inside the house. Read about the reasons for the popularity of Japanese ventilated facades.

The traditional way of warming private houses is the use of mineral wool, which has all the required properties:

  • Is good sound and heat insulation;
  • Usually does not require additional fixation and is easy to install.
