Composition
The basis of the varnish is petroleum bitumen, which contains up to 35% of asphaltenes, 15% of tar and 50% of mineral oils. As solvents of film formers, white spirit, a solvent (coal or oil), turpentine are used.
To improve the gloss of the treated surface and accelerate the drying process, synthetic additives are added to this agent.

Basic properties of BT-577 varnish

In accordance with it, after application of the product, a uniform glossy film with an even surface is formed. The surface treated with lacquer tolerates the influence of atmospheric factors (such as sun, rain, snow, severe temperature changes). It becomes wear-resistant, frost-resistant, resistant to moisture (including seawater), corrosion, ultraviolet radiation. It can be cleaned with detergent.
Wood surfaces treated with bituminous varnish are protected from the appearance of rot and mold fungi.

It is applied in three ways:
- dipping;
- spraying;
- painting tool.
If necessary, the lacquer is diluted to the working viscosity. Suitable solvents are white spirit, turpentine, a solvent or a mixture thereof.
Use a varnish at a temperature of 5-35 degrees. It is recommended to apply two layers, the interval between them for drying is approximately 24 hours at 20 degrees.
Lacquer BT-577, the technical characteristics of which make it explosive and fire hazardous, should be used in compliance with certain rules. It is applied only in well-ventilated rooms with supply and exhaust ventilation, in open areas. It is mandatory to use work clothes and personal protective equipment.
Do not get lacquer in the eyes, respiratory and digestive organs. In case of accidental contact with skin, wipe with a cloth dampened with any solvent (eg acetone), then rinse thoroughly with soap and water. Lacquer BT-577 is a solution of bitumen in organic solvents with the introduction of synthetic modifying additives and desiccant. The varnish is intended for protecting the surfaces of metal structures and articles during their short storage and transportation (six months in a temperate climate according to GOST 6992-68 for a single-layer coating), and also for the production of aluminum paint.
BT-177 paint is a suspension of aluminum PAP-2 powder in accordance with GOST 5494-71 in BT-577 varnish and is prepared immediately before application by mixing 80-85% of BT-577 varnish and 15-20% of aluminum powder. The paint BT-177 is intended for painting of structures and products operated in atmospheric conditions.
Coating with BT-177 paint (in two coats on the primed surface) should preserve its protective properties in a temperate climate for at least two and a half years.
Lacquer BT-577 is applied to the surface with a paint sprayer, brush, fill or dipping, and paint BT-177 with a paint sprayer or brush.
