Polyurethane lining of bunkers, gutters, leaks, vibrating chutes and other equipment. Method for creating a protective coating of the pipe against abrasive wear

One of the directions among the production capabilities of NPO Unikom-Service LLC is polyurethane.

Lined pipes  Excellent for transporting highly abrasive ore slurries such as copper, phosphates, zinc, nickel, kaolin, gold, iron, manganese, tungsten, titanium, magnesium, etc. They are also used for dehydration, filling the wellbore, cleaning from sludge, placement of tailings for dressing.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE:

Lining of pipes

Lining of pipelines with polyurethane is the best way to protect the pipeline metal from the negative impact of transported materials, as well as the environment. To perform lining, the pipes are divided into separate sections up to 10 meters in length and flanges are mounted on the ends of the sections. The lining of the pipes is carried out both from the inside and from the outside.

The most reliable way to protect the pipes from the inside is to install a polyurethane liner into the pipe. This insert is manufactured on special equipment and fixed inside the pipe by the method of hot planting or by using a special adhesive compound.

Pipe lining on the outside can be done in several ways:

  • Sputtering on the pipe surface of a liquid polyurethane system with its subsequent polymerization
  • Pasting of the pipe with polyurethane sheet with fixing of sheets with adhesive compounds and subsequent sealing of the joint

Lining internal surfaces of pipes with polyurethane using aluminum oxide, allows, will increase the life of the coating several times. Lined pipes offer maximum wear resistance compared to rubber gumming, which reduces the cost of subsequent lining.

Abrasive wear is an unavoidable problem in the operation of many types of industrial equipment: pumps, screens, screws, gutters, cyclones ... If there is liquid in the flow (hydroabrasive wear), the situation is further aggravated (except for abrasive, ) - the technique will very soon require replacement. Any mechanism that interacts with solids flows needs an effectiveprotection against abrasion.

There are a number of standard methods protection against abrasive wear, each of which has serious drawbacks and limited application (surfacing and spraying of hard coatings, epoxy-ceramic mixtures, various liners).

MetaLine offers a new technology solution protection from abrasive and hydroabrasive wear: two-component elastomers of cold spraying.

Protection against abrasion and erosion

New lining technology - protective polymeric (elastomeric) coatings.

Disadvantages of standard methodsprotection against abrasive wear:

  • Surfacing or spraying of hard materials(for example, ceramic or metal-ceramic coatings). The disadvantage of the method is the solution of the consequence (destruction of the part), and not the cause (the hard surface is easily worn again). The problem is that abrasive materials are usually harder than metal or alloy parts. For this reason, the hard surface is erased by an even harder fraction.
  • Restoration of a worn out part and its protection against abrasive by means of epoxy-ceramic materials. Polymers, unlike metals, are not uniquely solid materials. They are more resistant to abrasion and the action of solids. However, they have the same defect: the hard surface wears out quickly. Those. will have to again and again restore the part and protect it from abrasive wear. In addition, the problem with the application method (brush, spatula) is added: it is not possible to restore a part with complex geometry qualitatively.
  • Replacing a part for a new one. The method is almost perfect: the new part has a long life, is balanced, manufactured to the same standards as the part being replaced, if there is a factory lining, then anti-abrasion protection is also provided. There are only two drawbacks, which cross out all the advantages: first, the cost (the original part for imported equipment can cost hundreds of thousands), secondly, the delivery time (Russian parts will be received in a few days, but for imported equipment the account goes for weeks - and this is a simple production and lost profit)
  • Rubber liner or polyurethane. Rubber and polyurethane provide better protection against abrasive wear than solid protective materials. Unfortunately, there are serious restrictions on the use of such lining, associated with complex geometry of parts and hard-to-reach places (for example, in pump impellers). In places of folding, rubber sheets are particularly vulnerable to wear, which reduces their service life. In addition, waiting for the delivery of replaceable lining also takes time.

Compared to conventional protection technologies, the elastomers used by MetaLine are "soft" polymers (like rubber or polyurethane have excellent resistance to impact and abrasion). At the same time they lack the shortcomings of other materials:

  • Highest resistance to wear: 8.2 mg of Taber Test
  • Application by air spraying method allows to cover a part of any shape and size
  • The thickness of the coating is determined solely by the customer's need (and not by the manufacturer's standards, as in the case of lining plates)
  • The abrasion-resistant elastomer is applied as quickly as possible and cures within 24 hours.

Coating to protect against abrasion

Production of wear-resistant lining made of polyurethane for almost any overflow or storage equipment: gutters, leaks, bunkers and trays.

Polyurethane lining:

Appointment Benefits Property of polyurethane
Protection against abrasive wear Reducing the cost of repairing equipment, reducing downtime for frequent replacement of short-lived rubber / steel lining Polyurethane has excellent resistance to abrasion. Test
Protection against adherence and intentions of the material There is no need for constant labor-intensive mechanical cleaning or complex vibration mechanisms. Polyurethane is easy to clean. Polyurethane has a low coefficient of adhesion and a smooth, non-porous surface. Test
Amortization, shock protection In conditions of a combination of abrasive wear and medium impact loads, polyurethane lining is more durable than rubber Polyurethane has good elasticity and resistance to impact loads

Thus, in many cases, the polyurethane lining has advantages over others lining materials:

  • rubber lining
  • high-molecular-weight polyethylene lining
  • steel lining
  • stainless steel lining.

Especially effective is the use of polyurethane lining in a combination of several problems, for example: wear and tear of wet material on steel or rubber lining, or wear and cracking of plastic lining.Additional advantage of the polyurethane lining in front of the metal lining are reduced noise and light weight.

Types of lining made of polyurethane:

Type of lining Maximum lining dimensions Lining thickness, mm Way of installation of lining
1300 x 2300 mm (possibly more on request *) 4-150 mm Bolted connection, glue
Polyurethane on flexible metal-base basis 1220x3050 mm 8-150 mm Bolted connection
Polyurethane on a rigid metal base 1250х2000 mm 10-200 mm Bolted connection, welding
no restrictions 1-20 mm Sputtering

* On request, it is possible to produce lining in the form of large-sized polyurethane sheets with a thickness of 8 mm, including non-standard shapes. Used in those cases where a seamless, sealed liner is required. The length and width of such sheets is practically unlimited.

The scope of polyurethane lining:

We have accumulated considerable experience in the use of polyurethane lining, with the most effective protection being on the following types of equipment:

  • lining of gutters, estuaries, rudispusk;
  • lining of bunkers, tanks;
  • lining of the bodies of heavy vehicles and quarry dump trucks (for small material size);
  • lining of vibro-chutes, trays of vibration feeders;
  • lining of decks of screens;

Manufacture, lining of pipes and tanks

One of the directions among TekhKo's production capabilities is the lining of pipes and tanks with polyurethane.

The peculiarity of polyurethanes is an exceptionally high physical and mechanical properties, which in some respects surpass not only all types of rubber, rubbers, but also metals. Compared with metals, they provide a reduction in the mass of the product, a decrease in operating noise, less intensive wear, and corrosion. Polyurethane gives the products such useful properties that are not achievable for conventional rubbers.

Lined pipes are excellent for transporting highly abrasive ore slurries such as copper, phosphates, zinc, nickel, kaolin, gold, iron, manganese, tungsten, titanium, magnesium, etc. They are also used for dehydration, filling the wellbore, cleaning from sludge, placement of tailings for dressing.
