How to close the pipes in the bathroom. Master class: subtleties of tiling or how to “hide” bathroom communications

Home is the most familiar place in which we feel comfortable and comfortable. To ensure comfort and warmth in it, we strive to create an original, stylish and beautiful renovation. The most problematic place in an apartment to renovate is the toilet. Along the top of the walls there are all communications that spoil appearance premises. Therefore, when making repairs in the toilet, you need to think about how to hide communications and give the room an aesthetic appearance.

This article describes some ways to close communications that will help you cope with this problem.

What you need to know before closing pipes

If you decide to close the sewer and water pipes in the toilet of your apartment, you need to know that before closing the pipes you should carefully check these pipes their connections and everything that may further affect their course. To avoid emergency situations, it is necessary to first reduce the likelihood of their occurrence. Pipes must be free of rust, rot and hermetically connected.

It is also of great importance that all transition elements that relate to the hot water supply system are made from the same material as the pipes. This will ensure same extension when heating pipes and connecting parts, which will prevent various situations that arise.

But if the communications in your toilet are not reliable, then it's better to replace them completely new, and also make sure that they are freely accessible before closing them. All this must be done so that if a problem arises, you can easily and quickly get to them without destroying the constructed structure.

Review of ways to close communications

Today there are many ways to close toilet pipes:

  • decorative box;
  • cabinet for household supplies;
  • blinds.

To carry out work on closing pipes, the following tools are needed:

  • perforator;
  • level;
  • screwdrivers;
  • roulette;
  • screwdriver;
  • mounting knife;
  • trowels.

The most suitable materials for installing the box, which is the basis of any method of closing pipes, are moisture resistant drywall And plastic panels. They are environmentally friendly, corrosion resistant, lightweight. In addition you will need:

  • metal CD profiles or wooden slats;
  • self-tapping screws with a press washer and dowels;
  • thin reinforcing mesh and door with frame;
  • ceramic tile;
  • putty.

The box can be made from your chosen building materials various configurations. For this:

So, the box is made, let's proceed to the method of masking the pipes.

Covering toilet pipes with plastic panels

Most quick way closing the pipes in the toilet is plastic panels. Possible closure of pipes plastic panels two options. The first is when the wall closes completely. This option is aesthetic, but reduces room area. The second is when the box covers only the pipes. This option saves material and leaves more free space.

To cover the box, plastic panels must be 8 mm thick, which will ensure their reliability and longevity. It will not be difficult to match them to the main tone of the finish, since almost the entire color range is presented.

Advantages of this method:

  • quick installation of panels;
  • The design is lightweight and, if necessary, can be dismantled without effort or problems;
  • panels are moisture-resistant and hygienic;
  • have an attractive aesthetic appearance;
  • not expensive and have a long service life.

Closing pipes in a plasterboard toilet

Moisture-resistant plasterboard is used to cover the pipes in the toilet. Construction of a plasterboard box more labor-intensive process than sheathing with plastic panels. To install drywall, panels of the required dimensions are cut out of it using a mounting knife. Then the panels fastened with self-tapping screws to the box frame. A noise-absorbing gasket can be laid between the box and the pipes. After installation is completed, the seams are reinforced with a fine mesh and puttied. When the putty dries, the box must be finished. For finishing you can use the following Decoration Materials: ceramic tiles, wallpaper or paint it.

Closing toilet pipes using blinds

To close the pipes in a small bathroom, the most ideal option is special moisture resistant blinds. With this method, the box is installed under the ceiling, which does not take up space, since the roller shutters are wound onto a shaft when opened. This allows access to pipes, water meters, valves, while part of the bathroom is closed from the top to the floor. The room has an original, attractive appearance. Roller shutters come with manual or mechanical drive of different colors. It is best to have the roller shutters installed by a specialist.

Utility cabinet

It is possible to close the pipes in the toilet with a convenient and useful cabinet for household supplies, providing quick access to all communications. For the construction of the cabinet, laminated chipboard, plywood, and plasterboard are used.

From wooden blocks making a frame and fasten it with dowels to the side walls. We screw the hinges to the frame with self-tapping screws and put the doors on them. You can store household supplies in the locker. We install a screen underneath it to cover the pipes. When making the screen, you need to take into account that it fits tightly to the walls, it has holes for supplying water to the toilet flush tank and for the sewer pipe, it should move easily in the grooves.

First of all, we do it behind the toilet width measurement above and below and the height of the niche. Then we cut out a part of the required size from plywood and insert it into the niche. Then we measure the height from the floor to the edge of the sheet for depth calculation groove for eyeliner. To these measurements we add 5 cm in width and height. When the groove is cut, through the shelf in the cabinet, which is removable, we insert the screen into the niche.

How to close horizontally oriented pipes

Water supply pipes in the bathroom are in most cases placed horizontally. To close them plastic is used,Chipboard, plywood. A frame is made in the form of a step, which is sheathed with the selected material. Then the structure is finished , which can be used as a shelf. To access the pipes, one of the panels is made removable.

Advantages of this option:

  • cheap materials;
  • simple installation;
  • functionality.

To choose a method for closing pipes, you need to consider the possibilities of locating the box in your bathroom. It is very important that when creating an aesthetically pleasing room, not violated functionality of the system. Then masking the pipes in the toilet will improve its design and provide sound and heat insulation.

One of the best ways is a ready-made removable box that necessarily hides the fan riser. To install it, a base is laid under the pipe, to which a U-shaped cover is attached. Collapsible design such a pencil case provides free access to plumbing system.

If you can’t buy a ready-made box, you can make it yourself. To do this, you need to mount an L- or U-shaped frame from a metal profile, and then cover it with strips of waterproof plasterboard.

You can also use plastic panels. However, when choosing them, you should remember that the thickness of the panels must be at least 8 mm. This is important for reliable assembly of the box and long service life of the plastic in conditions of high humidity.

Before you hide the pipes in the toilet under plasterboard or plastic panels, you should think about it. This method has one significant drawback - it is a non-demountable design. To monitor and troubleshoot the system, inspection hatches must be provided in such a box.

But if the toilet pipes are sweating, this method will be ideal for masking them.

Radical option using a false wall

Owners of a spacious toilet room can completely hide communications behind a false wall. However, it takes away part of the functional volume of the room and is not suitable for a small toilet.

A false wall is a solid structure, its dimensions correspond to the dimensions of the wall. The principles of its creation and disadvantages are the same as those of the box. If repairs are required, it will need to be dismantled almost completely. The advantage is that, if desired, it can be decorated with tiles or wallpaper. Audit windows are also needed here.

Masking pipes using niches

This method is suitable if the design of the toilet room has ready-made niches that can accept a fan pipe. For a small toilet with such a niche, the ideal solution would be blinds (roller shutters) or a screen.

Plumbing blinds differ from ordinary ones by having a special moisture-resistant coating. Installation of this design is quite simple. What is important is that access to communications is open; you just need to raise the blinds or roller shutters.

The screen is a decorative panel that can be easily removed. To make it, a frame is attached to the walls, to which the screen is attached with self-tapping screws. This panel is very easy to remove if quick access to communications is required.

Hiding pipes using gating

Another option for hiding pipes in a toilet is gating. Installing pipes in grooves (recesses in the wall) allows you to maintain the functional volume of the room. However, in this way it will not be possible to hide the pipe from the toilet and the riser along technical parameters. The depth of the groove (grooves) on the load-bearing wall should not exceed 15% of the wall depth, and the diameter of the pipe should be no more than 50 mm. Upon completion of installation, the grooves are sealed with plaster or sand-cement mixture.

So, we looked at some options for masking pipes in the toilet room. The best option For repairs and quick access to the plumbing system there is a removable box. If we consider decoration from the point of view of attractiveness, then the best option- This is a false wall. When choosing a method that is right for you, you should take into account the area and design of the room.

In this master class we will tell you how to hide water and sewer pipes when installing an installation in a compact bathroom. You will also learn some professional tiler tricks - how to assemble a false wall and make an “invisible seam”.

Anyone who has to do major repairs or reconstruction of a bathroom faces a communication problem. They have a slender, technological appearance, but do not fit into the interior at all. There are usually two ways out of this situation - a technological cabinet with audits and meters or a false wall with a hatch. In this article we will analyze in detail the structure and finishing of the false wall.

After correct installation of the installation and connection of the water supply, sewerage, ventilation and electrical systems, the following stage follows: decorative finishing. We are only interested in the wall opposite front door, therefore we will not describe tiling of walls and floors.

Frame markings. When tiling small spaces ceramic tiles You should strictly maintain the geometry and align the walls as accurately as possible. The marking of the future false wall is carried out not from the existing (rough) concrete wall of the building, but from the leveled wall of the bathroom (the side with the door). As a rule, the installation has a size of 180-200 mm in thickness, which is several centimeters more than the thickness sewer pipes, running parallel to it. A simple option is to level out the difference with a continuous false wall along the thickness of the installation. But, since we are not looking for easy ways and are fighting for every centimeter of usable space, our wall will have a step on which some necessary little things can later be placed.

So, we mark and install the frame from CD and UD profiles under plasterboard sheets (GKL) in the usual way.

Attention! All communications must be properly installed and tested many times!

It is necessary to determine in advance the position of water consumption meters - meters - so that they can be easily accessed through the inspection hatch. In our case, for reasons of symmetry, a place was chosen above the toilet at eye level.

We install moisture-resistant gypsum board on the frame and get a flat surface, ready for laying tiles, on all sides. GCR intended for tiling with cement adhesive does not require the use of a primer.

Advice. Install the frame in a plane with the installation frame - you will get additional mounting surfaces. Fix the gypsum boards to the frame with rivets.

In this case, a row of the longitudinal (long) wall should overlap the tiles of the false wall, covering the joint. This will visually hide possible installation defects. Each time, the vertical cladding comes to the horizontal, and the longitudinal (in the direction of movement) comes to the transverse.

Question. Why is installation done from the second row, and not from the first?

Answer. This trick allows you to maintain an even horizon and dimension of the seam of all subsequent rows, avoiding tile defects or unevenness when tiling the floor.

In the future, horizontal seams will become the starting point for cladding. The horizon should be strictly maintained, as they are visible much better than vertical ones. You should not compromise, saving time on pruning, and disrupt the harmony of the horizontal row when the opportunity arises - the result will be with you for many years.

Side. First we lay the horizontal plane. In this case, the factory edges of the tiles should meet at the junction.

Then we cut and glue the tiles onto the false wall.

We cut it in place and glue the side tiles so that they overlap the seams.

We complete the installation to the ceiling.

And we cover the first row.

This is the final result. All that remains is to install the inspection hatch and ventilation grille. Well, the toilet itself, of course.

We will draw up an estimate for the false wall of a standard bathroom. Our calculation will be approximate, so for convenience we assume a width of 1 m, a height of 2.5 m. Materials were selected from the average price range:

Name Unit change Qty Unit price, rub. St., rub. Note
UD profile linear m 7 20 140 Wall perimeter
CD profile linear m 8 30 240 Transverse frame ribs
GKL moisture resistant 12.5 mm, Knauf sheet 1 250 250 Sheet 1.2x2.5 m
Ceramic tiles sq. m 2,5 300 750 Average value
Grout for joints Ceresit CE 33 kg 1 75 75 Colored seam
Self-tapping screws, tile adhesive, dowels - - 500 500 As well as other consumables
Total material 2000 Depends on the price of the tile
Job 2000 Depends on the terms of the contract
Total material and work 4000

Sometimes anxiety arises: “What if it leaks?” It’s not for nothing that high-quality installation is mentioned at the beginning of the article. This should be entrusted to a specialist with recommendations or a company that provides a guarantee. Practice has shown that assembly (installation) defects manifest themselves almost immediately, or in the first weeks of active use. The risk of leaks then quickly decreases. A properly assembled system will last 50 years. Therefore, this option for solving the problem of visible communications is not for the budget-conscious, but for those who value reliability and good appearance.
