Please note that in the first two years it is not desirable to perform interior decoration of the log house due to shrinkage of the house. In general, the cant be able to dry out for five years. And since all materials for finishing are fixed on the crate, then due to shrinkage, cracks, deformation and ruptures of the surface layer may appear.

Interior decoration of a log house: working with walls

It is worth saying a little about the finish of the walls.
There are several options for wooden houses:

  • ● plastic panels, siding;
  • ● block house, lining;
  • ● plaster;
  • ● Drywall;
  • ● paint, tint, varnish.

Regardless of the method you choose, before proceeding to the installation of the walls, they must first be plowed up from the bottom. This is done both inside and outside. What is it for? The heat loss is significantly reduced. In addition, the tree is sensitive to insect pests, moisture, so you need to remember the treatment with an antiseptic.

The interior decoration of the frame by block house or lining is considered the most expensive, but at the same time the most desirable. It aesthetically looks, is environmentally friendly material and, most importantly, effectively preserves the natural aura of a wooden house.

Ceiling and floor: the main stages of interior finishing of the house from a log house

Of course, the ceiling can be left already in the form in which it is before the finishing works - with cracks, beams, etc. Such a natural material, like a tree, always fits well in any interior. But the ceiling also requires finishing in order to protect the wood from dampness, mold, for decoration purposes. What materials to use:

  • ● As well as walls, the ceiling can be made by lining, which will even outline it.
  • ● Excellent looking ceilings with patterns and carved.
  • ● The painted ceiling looks extremely original, especially the tree is very grateful material, with which it is a pleasure to work.
  • ● In the bathroom and the kitchen, it is better to install stretch ceilings, as they successfully trap so damaging a tree's moisture.
  • ● Multi-level structures on the ceiling can be created with gypsum board, besides it perfectly allows you to hide various communications.

  Also worth mentioning about those materials that you should not use. It is better to learn from other people's mistakes.
These include:

  • ● Plastic. Excellent burning and unpresentable looks.
  • ● Tiled finish. This material will soon fall into oblivion. The only advantage is low cost, due to which it can compete with other materials.

Please note, it is not necessary to use nails that are not covered with an anti-corrosion layer for fastening, galvanized screws are more suitable for these purposes.

If you want the room to retain the warm aura of a wooden house, then the floors are best made of laminate, boards or parquet. If this is not the case, then any other material will fit into the modern country house. Particular attention should be paid to the insulation of the floor. To do this, you can use almost all existing technologies and materials for insulation.

Having completed the long process of building a wooden house, you finally faced the question of how to finish the finishing of your log house? If you performed all the stages of construction on your own, the finishing of the log house with your own hands will not be a big problem for you. This article will try to explain very clearly all the stages and features, as well as give a maximum of useful tips and advice.

Advice: do not rush to finish the house, if there is no hard necessity, it is better to wait a couple of years until the shrinkage of the log structure is finished, otherwise it can happen, so all your efforts will go in vain.

First of all, the interior of the log house includes warming and laying of the wooden floor, warming the walls (caulk,) casing and the window, door and window openings, ceiling, attic, grinding logs, etc., but we will talk about them in the next article , but for now we will discuss:

Interior decoration inside

To date, there is a large number of materials for decoration inside the building, we will try to identify the main types and directions. But do not forget that the finishing of the building from the nutria should begin with the covering and warming of the floor.

Finishing Bamboo

The board, intended for plating the rooms, the thickness does not exceed 220mm. It is usually made of pine wood, less often of deciduous wood. The type of installation is divided into vertical and horizontal. After the plating, this imitation of the timber looks very aesthetically and stylishly.

The floor of such a frame can also be made of lining or oak, and more simple versions are possible: carpeting, linoleum parquet. The ceiling is also made of a board.

First of all, decide which type of mounting suits you best. If the structure is not large, for example a bath, then you can apply a vertical method of laying. Well, in the case of larger buildings, such as a dacha or a house, it is better to apply a horizontal method of laying. This is due to the small length (usually 2.5 m) of the lining and, in the case of a horizontal arrangement in a large building, joints inevitably appear (this problem is partially solved by the arrangement through a 2.5 m vertical board). Before starting the fastening, it is advisable to treat the board with a special mixture, to protect it from moisture, insects and fire (an antecedent).

Note: at this stage you need to decide whether there will be additional warming of the walls between the walls of the log house and the car board. If the thickness of the board from 180 to 220 mm can be dispensed with and without insulation

Ways of securing the lining

The best option for fixing is the fastening to the crate (especially if the rounded log was used in the construction). The lining is made of horizontal bars located along the entire perimeter (at a distance of 50 cm from each other) of the building and helps to achieve an even laying of the car board. Another plus of the crate is the ability to hide behind it wiring and pipes. In the event that a profiled bar or glued beam was used during the construction of the log house, it is possible to do without a crate (the walls of such a building are fairly even in themselves).

vertical installation of lining

Tip: it is better to post to the interior, because during the work this can add to you a lot of trouble.

Starting the installation is from the corner of the building, while the installation itself will not be difficult because of the presence of a special "spike-groove" clutch at the car board (it is better not to use the usual carboard because of the difficulties with large volumes). This method of adhesion allows to achieve an even and dense stacking. The fixing of boards to the rails of the crate can be done in three different ways.

  1. With the help of a special clamp (kleymera). The most preferable of the options due to fast and important quality coupling. Kleymer with one part of it is fixed from the inside of the groove of the wagon board, and the second part is connected with the ream of the crate with the help of a self-tapping screw.
  2. Using a self-tapping screw. A hole is drilled in the board about 1/2 of its thickness and a diameter the size of a self-tapping screw. The screw is then screwed into the hole, and the hole is closed with a pin, after which it is ground before the pin is fully aligned with the board. The main disadvantage is a fairly large amount of time required for installation.
  3. Using a galvanized nail. The nail, at an inclination of 45 degrees, is inserted into the "groove" and gently clogged (figure above), the nail head must be recessed, so as not to interfere with the lock when engaging. The downside of this option is a large percentage of the cleavage of the "groove" and, correspondingly, a large amount of rejection.

  • Natural appearance
  • Additional insulation
  • Environmentally friendly material
  • Easy installation
  • Quite a high price
  • The need to treat the board with a mixture of various harmful factors

Finishing Block House by own hands

The option of finishing the log house with their own hands with imitation of a solid log can be represented either as a wagon board (imitation under a rounded log) or as separate panels resembling a profiled bar. A very impressive look and the original Russian design of this decoration makes it one of the most common options.

In the event that a car board is used for the block house, the installation process does not differ from the above (I do not need to explain that with a block house only the horizontal type of laying is applicable). The boards are fixed to the crate by the chosen method (vertical bars, located through 50-60 cm), the board must be laid from the bottom up. Remember, the last board will almost always be a little truncated and at the top it will not be so noticeable.

If you decide to use ready-made panels, then the editing process will take much less time and effort costs. Such panels are also fastened to the crate, but the finished construction looks less natural.

  • A beautiful imitation will create a feeling of a real hut
  • Provides the opportunity to hide communications and insulate walls
  • Great for different types of interior
  • Easy and reliable connection
  • High cost
  • If the mounting is incorrect, the panels look unnatural

Finishing the log cabin with plasterboard, how ridiculous it does not sound but still appropriate

Quite a universal option. But applying it to the frame is simply ridiculous, it will spoil the whole impression of the house and bring to nothing its wooden primordiality. However, in life there is everything and it is possible that the combination of external antiquity and inner modernity was envisaged by you from the very beginning.

Under this style it is better to use the floor of carpet or parquet. The ceiling can either be gypsum plasterboard or be hinged.

Installation of plasterboard

With this version of the trimming of the log house you need to make the entire perimeter of the building a crate with a U-shaped profile. Next is to dissolve all the wiring (if it is not already done) and in cases of need to insulate the walls (glass wool between the drywall and the wall of the log house will do the best). One of the main advantages of this finish is the ability to make protrusions and grooves in the wall (thanks to the versatility of the profile and drywall). Which in turn allows you to hide pipes and batteries, make a niche in the wall for a TV and a refrigerator, etc.

Fastening of gypsum board to the profile is made with self-tapping screws. After fixing it is necessary to fill the joints to level the walls. Further, your imagination is boundless.

  • Almost unlimited opportunity to give the walls the right kind
  • Simplicity and ease of installation
  • Low price of the material
  • A very original combination of past and present
  • Kills the atmosphere of antiquity
  • Requires additional insulation
  • Weak resistance to mechanical damage (and even hammer a nail into such a wall is very difficult)
  • Relative fragility (15-20 years)

Log cabin itself is the best finish

If the inner side of the beam itself looks respectable and beautiful, and when building a log house it was not mistaken and it is warm enough, it is possible to do without any additional finishing.

Wooden floor is better to make of a parquet board, or vagonki. The ceiling should also be trimmed with wood.

In the case when the frame was built from round logs with the technology "into the bowl" it's enough simply to cover the surface of the tree with a protective varnish - it looks great. Wiring in such cases should be laid on the floor and corners of the building, covering it, for example, skirting. Pipes are better to hold under the floor, and those that can be seen from the outside can be beautifully trimmed with a carcass from the wagon board.

For a log house, chopped "in the paw" having a smooth inner wall (if necessary, the wall can be leveled with a workbench), the painting option will be suitable for the color you need (white or chestnut color will look as good as possible).

Tip: shpaklyuyte walls before painting - this will hide knots, cracks and chips of the bar.

  • There is no need to wait for the shrinkage shrinkage
  • Minimum cost of finishing
  • Prostate work
  • Beautiful and natural appearance of timber or logs
  • You will not be able to reach a perfectly flat wall surface
  • Difficulties in hiding communications
  • Limited in the choice of design
  • The need to periodically update the finish (about every 4-7 years)

Cotton planking

It is mainly used for brick walls. Can be used as a variant of the interior decoration of the frame. To do this, use acrylic or mineral stucco mixture on wood. This technology protects the tree from moisture and other harmful factors. With the help of special additives, you can give it the right color and shade. Plaster is applied to a special mesh fixed to the frame with screws. Plaster the walls, under it you can hide the wires and telephone cables. Also, you can easily hide all kinds of chips, and cracks of the beam or logs. In general, during construction, it is imperative to have, with every fireman, disguise "jambs"

The floor can be chosen at your discretion, although the wooden flooring will look inappropriate. The ceiling can also be anything, stretch ceilings and plasterboard are best suited, although it is possible to make a shpaklevku and the ceiling itself.

  • Cheapness of materials
  • Minimum knowledge and skills in finishing
  • Speed and ease of the process
  • A rich selection of different shades
  • Short-lived (repeated shpaklevku have to be carried out every 5 years)
  • A very ordinary look, it may not look harmonious in the hallway.
  • The difficulty is to hide some communications. Pipes will be visible and aesthetic options for solving this problem are unlikely to be found.

Decorating with plastic

The use of plastic for finishing the frame with their own hands can be considered as an option for a part of the premises, the decoration of the whole frame with plastic will be a real blasphemy. Plastic will be acceptable, for example, for a loggia, a balcony, a closet or a closet. Bathroom and toilet can also be plastered with plastic.

The option of flooring can be very diverse and completely depends on your preferences and the order in which room the plastic is laid (tiles in the bathroom, etc.). The ceiling can also be covered with plastic, or use suspended ceilings.

Installation of plastic

There is, as in the case with the lining vertical and horizontal way of laying. Consider a more common vertical. The process of installing plastic is largely identical with the car board. From the beginning the frame is assembled, on which the plastic panels will be fixed. Further in the upper and lower part of the crate are fixed special profiles (molding) in which after the plastic will be started on the principle of "spike-groove".

Tip: The plastic panel should fit tightly into the molding, but it is not worth it to hammer it there by force, this can cause both deformation of the panel (the panel can stand up "wave"), and the imbalance of the molding itself, which causes the subsequent panels to sit tightly.

Laying of plastic panels is made from the corner of the building, the panel is started from the beginning in the molding and after it is interlocked by means of the "lock". Fastening to the bars (profile) of the crate is carried out by means of nails and self-tapping screws, which are driven into a specially provided area of plastic called "fixing tail". For a better connection between the panels, you can use special glue or liquid nails.

  • Behind the plastic, it's easy to hide various communications and insulation elements.
  • Cheap and practical stuff.
  • The parts are easy to assemble and cut to the right size.
  • A variety of colors allows you to combine different options, creating contrasting and beautiful patterns.
  • Not the most suitable option from an aesthetic point of view
  • Good flammability of plastic
  • Weak resistance to mechanical damage (although it is worth noting that the damaged area of the plastic panel can be easily replaced)

Finishing with a rope

This is a decorative version of interior decoration, in which the main consumable material is a special rope or rope (jute). This option is applicable only to a log made "in a bowl" and preferably from a round log (if a regular bar was used, the effect of such finishing is much lower).

The work on the improvement of the dwelling should begin only after the completion of all necessary work with the bar (antiseptic treatment and polishing). As a finishing material, a jute decorative rope is used, which fits in the corners of the frame and also performs a protective role. Jute rope prevents the penetration of moisture and wind into the house, and helps to keep heat inside.

For this design, the floor is made of oak or a parquet board. The ceiling is equipped with a wagon board.

How to mount a rope?

Begin work on the finish vnetri is after the frame a little osyadet and shrink (not earlier than a year after construction). Ways of laying the rope in the crown of several: with glue, staples or special nails with plastic caps.

Tip: treat the rope with special antiseptics shortly before installation.

Measure and cut off the necessary part of the rope, whose edges in order to prevent their dissolution should be wrapped in threads and treated with glue or varnish. It is best to fasten the rope to the beam with a special glue, for this, apply a thin layer of glue in the place where the rope will be laid, carefully check the fastening in the corners of the log.

Note: hot melt is applied to logs with a gun, do not use ordinary glue and do not try to apply it by handicraft.

  • Very original and fascinating appearance
  • Low cost of consumables
  • Additional protection of joints and joints of the log from wind and moisture
  • A very laborious process of laying the rope (rushing and negligence can lead to unpleasant consequences)
  • With this form, there is no way to further insulate the walls with other materials
  • It is almost impossible to hide the wiring and other communications.

Tip: the wiring can be carried out on the lower crown of the wall and the corners of the frame, when laying the rope there instead of nails use small staples, so as not to damage the wires.

Conclusion: it is the interior decoration of the log house within itself that will allow you to fully demonstrate your talent in design and realize your building potential. In it, you can, apply a variety of ways, and combine the ones already available to create a non-repetitive interior and style.

What is the trimming of the log house?

Finishing turnkey - a set of activities that are carried out to improve the technical characteristics and appearance of the building. It includes a number of stages, starting with the polishing of the frame, ending with internal and external cladding with special materials.

A wooden house needs to be finished when it gives the main shrinkage - a year after construction. Usually, all work begins one year after construction. It is desirable that all events are held in the warm and dry season. The best option is summer.

Grinding and polishing

Grinding and polishing - the first stage of the interior and exterior decoration of the frame. This procedure is the removal of the upper darkened layers of wood. Grinding of the bar is performed by an eccentric machine, the logs by a Bulgarian, and its polishing is also performed by an eccentric machine. For processing, disks with grain numbers 60-80 and 100-120 are used for the first stage and polishing, respectively. The house is polished, both from the outside and from the inside.

Grinding is of great importance, since it simultaneously performs several functions:

  • protects wood from fungi and mold, as harmful microorganisms are removed along with the top layers of the material;
  • gives the wood an aesthetically attractive appearance, distinguishes its structure and returns to the crowns a natural even color;
  • increases the adhesion of wood, improving its adhesion to the paint / impregnation, and ensures a uniform application of funds.

In addition, grinding with polishing simply improves the appearance of the entire structure.

Cauliflower

Kanopatka is the second stage of finishing the wooden frame from the outside and inside. This is the filling of the gaps that formed as a result of shrinkage in the places of the interglacial and corner joints. As a thermal insulation material, use jute, lnovatin, moss or sealant "Warm seam". The latter is very durable, elastic, environmentally friendly and does not let moisture pass.

The selected material fills each gap in the joints: both between the crowns, in the groove area, and in the corners. Kanopatka is carried out immediately along the entire perimeter from the outside and inside, starting from the lower rims.

Qualitatively executed caulk:

  • prevents the rotting of the tree, since it does not let moisture into the gaps;
  • significantly insulates the housing, because the cold air does not get inside through the slots, thereby reducing the cost of heating.

Painting a log house

Interior decoration of the frame and its external "transformation" is impossible without painting. The means used often simply emphasize the natural texture of the wood and reliably protect it from the effects of the external environment. It is possible to easily process the log with antiseptics and flame retardants - these substances reduce its combustibility, protect it from decay, mold, insects.

The paint is applied by brushes along the fibers of the tree. This method of application provides a "rubbing" of the product into the wood structure: the paint penetrates into it, which ensures the durability of the coating. You can use paints on alkyd, acrylic, water-based or natural oils. The latter are durable, evenly applied and retain the natural air permeability of the tree.

Painting a log or its processing with protective means:

  • prevent rotting, as reduce moisture permeability;
  • protect wood from insects;
  • increase the protective properties of the material to all external influences;
  • transform or supplement the appearance of the log house.
  • If there are places on the wood that are affected by blue, bleaching is performed. Removal of stains is necessary, so that the paint falls evenly, it will be an even color.

    External finishing of the house

    The finishing of the wooden house from the outside is carried out when the owner does not want to leave the traditional color of the building. In this case, the wood is necessarily pretreated with protective means, after which the finishing materials are mounted on it.

    The market offers many solutions: vinyl siding, panels of stone materials, facing brick, block house, lining. The choice of materials is based only on your preferences and material possibilities. Each of them has its advantages and installation features.

    Exterior finish of the house:

    • changes the appearance of the log;
    • provides additional hydro-, steam-, noise- and thermal insulation.

    The difference between a log house without finishing and with it is obvious. For example, in this photo - the initial stage of exterior decoration.

    And on this - the final stage of finishing:

    Floor installation

    The interior of the log house begins with the installation of the log. The rough floor is usually mounted from materials that withstand a high load: bars with a cross section of about 100x150 or 100x200 millimeters. On the rough floor must be stacked several layers of insulation, and sometimes - and additional waterproofing. As a heater mineral or basalt cotton wool is used. After that, the final version is mounted.

    The finishing floor in the trimming can be made of a wide variety of materials. Usually, in traditional solutions, grooved boards are used, which are additionally treated with protective materials and are painted (lacquered). Parquet, laminate, tile, planed boards and other materials can also be used.

    The installation of a floor in a wooden house reduces heat loss through additional insulation.

    Mounting of ceiling and floor slabs

    The finishing of the log house inside also includes the arrangement of the flooring or the interfloor overlapping. Beams and other elements of the supporting structure can be closed with various materials: boards, suspended or stretched ceiling, special finishing tiles. The choice depends only on your preferences in the design.

    The main purpose of the ceiling is to create an aesthetically appealing interior. If an interfloor is installed, it serves as a floor for the second floor and provides additional noise insulation between the floors.

    Interior decoration of the log house

    From inside the walls of the wooden house can also be finished with different materials. Can be used: lining, imitation bar, standard painting, special decorative panels and many other materials. Most of them will require preparatory work.

    Interior decoration of the frame is also designed to improve the interior. It is selected depending on what kind of design you want to create.

    Prices for other works are available

    After the walls of the house are built and installed on the foundation, there is still much work to be done in the creation of wooden houses - the finishing of the log house. Before embarking on this process, it is necessary to allow the building to survive.

    Wood is a natural natural material that reacts sensitively to any changes in load, humidity and external influences. During adaptation to new conditions, the tree may shrink or add to the dimensions. The entire newly created frame can shrink. After waiting a month and a half, you can already begin to finish it.

    Immediate finishing of the frame

    In order for the frame to be decorative trimmed from the outside or inside, it must be processed and prepared for the application of finishing coatings and act as a solid foundation.

    The main process - the decoration of the log house inside - implies the installation of a floor, the cutting of openings for windows and doors, the treatment of walls, the laying of electrical wiring and plumbing communications.

    After this, several types of work are carried out, which may have a beginning during the laying of logs, and end after the shrinkage of the entire frame. Such finishing works include:

    • sanding and polishing the log;
    • caulking log junctions;
    • coating with antiseptic and bleach.

    Sanding and sanding

    Sewing of logs is made before stacking them in a frame and cutting down the connecting grooves. It implies the removal of the outer bark of the tree to clean wood.

    A scraper, a conventional bayonet shovel or other tool is taken, and from the trunks intended for construction, a subcrustal layer and bark are scraped, which serve to protect the wood from external influences in natural conditions.

    In order to strengthen the protection of logs going to the construction of the house, from external influences (moisture, mold, fungus, insects, ultraviolet), all of them are additionally processed and ground before being placed in a frame.   Often, houses are built from the purchase of wood, which has already been processed.

    Grinding, in addition to the protective function, also significantly improves the external characteristics of the tree - gives it a natural original color. For the subsequent application of coatings such as varnish, this procedure is literally necessary.

    Grinding is made by special tools such as grinders or grinders equipped with small abrasive discs or nozzles with a "skin".

    Caulking, whitening and antiseptic treatment

    The first procedure is performed to improve the fit of logs among themselves, to remove cracks and air spaces in the grooves. The joints between the logs are collapsed with fibrous materials - plexes, felt, moss. They smoothly spread across the laying groove and should protrude between the logs approximately 5 cm from the outer and inner sides of the log.

    Moss is a natural material that also improves the thermal conductivity of the building. For the finishing of the log house, it should be slightly moist. The dried moss gets brittle and begins to crumble, while the very moss leads to rotting of the wood.

    The tow is used in the usual (medium fibrous), it is often mixed with moss. Felt before laying on logs are usually impregnated with formalin or other solutions (resin, bitumen), which helps protect it from moths and other insects.

    After laying the logs with small spatulas called konopatkami (vystrugivayutsya of wood or can be metal), the protruding ends of the pack are tightly clogged into the joints. The blade of caulk usually reaches a width of 10 cm and a thickness of 2-5 mm.

    Where there are curvatures and at the joints of walls, caulked spatulas with a curved blade are used, the width of which is 2 times smaller than usual.

    Caulking is done in two ways. The first is called "in the set" and is used for grooves and slots of great width. The second one is a "knife-edge", it is used for the usual thickness of grooves. The caulking is performed according to the following scheme:

    1. The patch emerging from the seam is picked up with a spatula and pressed into the seam. This is done before filling the seam.
    2. After this, the resulting roll of pakli is driven from below with a spatula into the groove. As a result, a neat, dense, rounded layer of material emerges between the logs.

    In the first place, the walls of the log are frayed from the outside, and only then comes the turn of the inner surfaces. Konopatit begin with the lower wreath of logs and move along the perimeter.

    In the event that you only forge one wall, the skew of the entire frame may occur.

    If the logs going to the construction were exposed to the fungus, then bleaching is simply necessary. It is produced to remove blackish spots and bluish from the surface of the log. After bleaching necessarily use antiseptic. This is done to protect the tree from fungus, putrefactive bacteria and harmful insects. As an antiseptic, fungicides, algaecides and bactericides are used.

    Conclusion and results

    After the work on processing the frame itself has been completed, it is necessary to give it more time for shrinkage, and then it is possible to proceed with the decorative decoration of the walls. The walls of the log house can be covered from the outside with a brick or other facing stone, covered with siding, lining or block house.

    The interior decoration of the log house allows the use of various materials existing on the market today and compatible with wood. The easiest way to finish the log walls is to coat them with varnish. If necessary, the walls after the finishing of the log house are also insulated from the inside.
