Preparing for a car trip
Before getting into the car, make sure that its windows, mirrors and lights are clean. Check the condition of the wheels, look under the car and make sure there are no fluid leaks.

Once in the car, perform the following operations:
- Close and lock all doors;

- When turning on the ignition, check the serviceability of the K/L located in the instrument cluster;

- Release the parking brake and make sure that the corresponding K/L goes out.
Engine starting
First, make sure that the parking brake is fully engaged and all auxiliary systems are turned off.
On models with AT move the AT mode selector lever to position "P" and depress the brake pedal. On models with manual transmission Depress the clutch pedal. If your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Key system, fully depress the brake pedal to move the ignition switch out of the LOCK position.
Turn the ignition key to the “START” position and hold it until the engine starts (but no more than 15 seconds), then release the ignition key - it should return to the “ON” position. When the starter is on, do not press the gas pedal, except in cases where the engine starts with difficulty at very low or very high temperatures, and also in the summer, when starting a warm engine within half an hour after turning it off.
If the engine stalls after attempting to start, repeat the above procedure again after waiting about 10 seconds. If the engine cannot be started, check the fuel pump fuse.
Let the engine idle for at least 30 seconds before driving. Until the engine warms up, avoid operating it at high speeds and under heavy load, especially in cold weather.
After a long period of high load on the engine, you should not turn it off immediately; first let it idle for a few minutes to avoid sudden temperature changes in different areas of the engine.

All power units are quite reliable and are equipped with a timing chain drive, the chain resource is quite long - 200-250 thousand km. But the chain tensioner will most likely have to be replaced at a mileage of 100-150 thousand km (replacing the chain and tensioner will cost 200-300 USD). The first signal about the need to replace the tensioner and chain will be a metallic rattling sound during a cold start of the engine. If you are not sure that you can identify this malfunction yourself, ask the service center to check the chain tension level at each maintenance. Also, the thermal clearances of the valves should be regularly checked, as they are mechanically adjusted. The disadvantages of gasoline engines include the short service life of the throttle valve unit (it cannot be repaired and can be replaced entirely), leaking oil seals and failure of the crankshaft position sensor. Replacing spark plugs is expensive; replacing them requires removing the exhaust manifold. The fuel filter is designed together with the fuel pump, and it is not possible to replace them separately.

Transmission

If the car is used in normal city driving, intervention in the chassis is rarely required. One of the advantages of this suspension is that most of the spare parts come from, which are slightly cheaper than for Mikra. If we talk about the reliability of the suspension, then, most often, they require replacement of the stabilizer strut and bushing, on average, once every 50-70 thousand km. The fact is that the amplifier has a short lifespan and can only be replaced as an assembly with the steering column, and this is not a cheap pleasure (about 500 USD, for a used one they ask from 200 USD). Brake pads enough, on average, for 30-40 thousand km, disks - for 70,000 km. To extend the service life of discs, many mechanics recommend lubricating the caliper guides when replacing pads.

Test Drive. Both cars cope with acceleration, maneuvers and parking with five points, so it is extremely difficult to choose a favorite. However, the complaints about the Micra and March are the same: extremely low noise insulation and strong sensitivity to air flows, as well as not very stable behavior when cornering. “March” can also be criticized for its suspension: a car designed for impeccable Japanese roads, finding itself in harsh Russian conditions, begins to desperately act up, instantly reacting to any road irregularity with knocks, shaking and a blood-curdling grinding sound. “Micra” behaves much calmer in this regard.
Safety. But in terms of safety, both cars are rather weak. Maybe “March”, created for a country where traffic rules are carefully observed, can be forgiven for such negligence, but with “Micra” it is surprising. The developers equipped the car with two front airbags, but did not test the car according to EURONCAP, perhaps remembering the sad experience of 2003, when the Nissan Micra earned a dismal two stars in tests.
Conclusions. The relatives of the March and Micra are good city cars, designed for a quiet ride on well-maintained city streets and convenient parking in busy places. It doesn’t make much sense to talk about which of them should be preferred - they are a mirror image of each other. Contrary to popular belief that right-hand drive cars are cheaper, the cost of both Nissans is approximately the same and ranges from 270 thousand rubles for a 2007 model to a hefty 380 thousand rubles for a 2010 model. However, if you want to buy a bright, noticeable and nimble car, such expenses are completely justified.
