To lock the door of the house with a key, simply click on “Key to the House of Warm Winds” in your inventory. It will indicate that you cannot equip this item, but this will close the door to the house. On the dining table you will find two additional keys - one for Lydia's room, the other for the armory. They operate in exactly the same way - when you click in the inventory, they lock/unlock Lydia’s room or the arsenal, respectively.
Now you don't have to worry about kids playing with Magnus' staff or summoning Daedra while you're away.

If you want to get this house, but do not want to change the House of Warm Winds, download the optional file.
Breezheim House will appear near the Whiterun Stables.

How nice it is after defeating another dragon to stretch your legs in the master's chair in front of the fireplace in your home and drink a couple of glasses of wine. But in order to get your home in the world of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, you will have to work a little and shell out a considerable amount of gold.

How to buy a house in Skyrim

You can buy your own home in all major cities of Skyrim. But in order to be able to purchase real estate, you need to complete several tasks from the local jarl.

After receiving permission, you can contact the jarl’s manager, from whom the house itself and additional furnishings are purchased. You can see its description right in the game in a special book that you receive along with your new home.

Also, in addition to the house, you are given a personal servant who will look after your property. Additionally, you can accommodate your own in the house.

A big advantage of your own home is the presence of a chest in which you can store any things and objects without the fear that they will disappear somewhere. You can also install an altar and a laboratory in houses for a fee.

You can also get your own personal premises for completing tasks in (The College of Winterhold) and in Dawnstar.

But let's return to our homes. I suggest you familiarize yourself with the list of real estate available for purchase by city with the condition of purchase and its possible improvements.

Houses in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim

House in Whiterun

Most likely, the very first house you can buy will be an estate in Whiterun. It's called " House of Warm Winds"(Breezehome). It is located right next to the city gates, which is very convenient. Also located nearby. But, unfortunately, you cannot place an altar for enchantment in the house.

Condition of purchase: completing the initial quests of the main storyline (after killing the dragon that attacked Whiterun). Also, if you did not complete the main quest, the house can be obtained from the rebels after the quest “Battle for Whiterun”.

Price: 5000 gold.

Additional furnishings(1800 gold):

  • Kitchen (300 gold)
  • Living room (250 gold)
  • Dining room (250 gold)
  • Second floor living room (200 gold)
  • Bedroom (300 gold)
  • Alchemy Laboratory (500 gold)

House in Riften

In Riften, your home could be a house called " Honey cake"(Honeyside).

Condition of purchase: To obtain the right to buy this house, you must complete several tasks for the residents of Riften and its jarl. To do this, it is enough to solve the problem with drug dealers and bandits (both quests are taken from the jarl and his steward), as well as complete a few simple instructions from local residents, for example, convey news from Bolli to Markarth.

Price: 8000 gold.

Additional furnishings(4300 gold):

  • Kitchen (500 gold)
  • Bedroom (600 gold)
  • Veranda (400 gold)
  • Front garden (800 gold)

Since Riften is actually a large den of thieves, all sorts of criminal elements can periodically break into your house, which you can kill on the spot without a twinge of conscience.

House in Markarth

In Markarth you can buy a fairly spacious house called " Vlindrel Hall"(Vlindrel Hall). This house will appeal to those who adore everything Dwemer. Inside there are also several small display cases and a mannequin to display the armor.

Condition of purchase: the house can be bought after completing the tasks of the Jarl of Markarth. You must be above level 20.

Price: 8000 gold.

Additional furnishings(4200 gold):

  • Lobby (500 gold)
  • Living room (900 gold)
  • Bedroom (800 gold)
  • Alchemy Laboratory (1000 gold)
  • Altar of Enchantment (1000 gold)

There is currently a bug on the PC version that prevents you from buying a house in Markarth.

House in Windhelm

In Windhelm you can purchase an estate called " Kjerim"(Hjerim). The house is very spacious, there are many display cases inside and three mannequins to display the armor.

Condition of purchase: The house can be purchased after completing the Stormcloaks, Imperial Legion, or Blood on the Ice quests.

However, it is worth considering that you can buy additional furnishings only after completing the quest “Blood on the Ice”. If you have not yet completed this task before purchasing the house, you will receive it after your first visit to the estate.

Price: 12,000 gold.

Additional furnishings(9000 gold):

  • Kitchen (1000 gold)
  • Living room (1500 gold)
  • Bedroom (1000 gold)
  • Armory (2000 gold)
  • Cleaning (500 gold)
  • Alchemy Laboratory (1500 gold)
  • Altar of Enchantment (1500 gold)

Important: After purchasing a living room, cleaning will become impossible! So do it right away if you don't like blood and other remains in the house.

  • City: Whiterun

House of Warm Winds- a house that can be purchased in Whiterun. The second house from the gate to the city can be purchased from Proventus Avenicci for 5,000 gold. You can also order home furnishings from Proventus. The advantages of the house include its convenient location near the gate (marker), the presence of a blacksmith shop nearby and its low cost. The obvious disadvantage is the inability to install an enchanting table.

Breezehome is the first home offered to you during the main quest. Breezehome is the cheapest house available for purchase in Skyrim, but it is also the only house in Skyrim that does not have an Pentagram of Souls.

It is conveniently placed just inside the entrance to Whiterun, next to Warmaiden"s. This makes Breezehome useful for a character who frequently uses Blacksmithing , as a full set of the stations are right next door.

If you have completed Dragon in the Sky, Lydia will be appointed as your housecarl and a small bedroom will be added upstairs for her. Her bedroom includes a dresser, an end table, a sack, and a bed (marked as owned).

Once purchased, Proventus will provide a book, Whiterun Home Decorating Guide, which details the various house upgrades available from him. Proventus will only sell upgrades while actually inside Dragonsreach. If he is on the Great Porch or his bedroom, the option to decorate your house will not be available.

If the Stormcloaks take over Whiterun, Proventus will move to Solitude and no longer offer you any upgrades. Instead, Brill will be able to sell you upgrades in Dragonsreach after that.

Note

  • An over-sized loaf of bread can be found in a basket on the kitchen shelves. Being several times bigger than a normal loaf, it may be of interest to collectors.
  • You may want to remove books from bookcase in Alchemy Lab before converting to Child's Bedroom with the Hearthfire DLC. Books will remain in the room and the ones from the bottom shelf will be under the bed and are inaccessible.

Why does Dovahkiin need a house? The question seems simple, but... Everyone needs a home, just like in ordinary life, it can be furnished, things can be stored in it. Let's take a closer look at how to buy a house in Skyrim.

We comply with the necessary conditions for buying a house in Skyrim

To purchase any home, you first need to earn the trust of the city manager. To do this, you need to successfully complete several tasks. After this, you become a full-fledged inhabitant of the city, the so-called tan, and can purchase your own real estate.

In addition, the house is quite expensive, and even for the simplest one you will have to pay 5,000, not to mention the fact that it will need to be furnished, which also requires money.

Do not choose the option to buy a house without having enough money for it, as the cost of the house will double for you next time. If you have purchased a home but are not offered to furnish it, you may need to complete additional tasks to be able to purchase furnishings and furnishings.

Buying a house in Skyrim

To buy a house, the player needs to find the city manager and contact him about buying a house. They buy a house from him, and the manager hands over the key and offers to buy something from the furnishings in the house. Thus, at the same time as purchasing a home, you can furnish the kitchen, living room, dining room and other rooms in your own home.

Let's take a look at the real estate available for purchase:

  • The House of Warm Winds, or Breezehome, is located in Whiterun. This is the most inexpensive dwelling with a base cost of 5,000 septims. Taking into account the modification, the house will cost 6800. It becomes available for purchase after completing the quest called “Windy Peak”.
  • Vlindrel Hall, or Vlindrel Hall, is located in Markarth. The cost is 8000 septims, with a modification of 12200. Such a house is suitable for Dovahkiin with a level over 20. In addition to the level, a necessary condition for acquiring Vlivland Hall is to complete an order from the Jarl and help 5 inhabitants of the city.
  • Medovik, or Honeyside – a house with adjacent territory. The location of the house is Riften. The base cost is 8000 septims, taking into account the modification 12300. This house has 2 entrances, one of which is accessible from inside the city, the second from outside. The house has a convenient location, there is a blacksmith shop and a shop nearby. To purchase a house you need to complete several tasks in Riften.
  • Kjerim, or Hjerim. House location: Windhelm. The initial cost is 12,000 septims, but on sale you can buy it for 8,000. Another 9,000 will be required for all modifications, and in the end the house will cost from 17 to 21 thousand. To purchase a house, you need to complete some tasks and receive the title of Thane of Eastmarch.
  • The High Spire, or Proudspire Manor, is located in Solitude. This is the most expensive dwelling in Skyrim, costing 25,000 septims, and that’s just for the house. Home improvements will cost an additional 11,000. This is a three-story estate where you will find everything you need. Geographically, the house is located quite far from the city center. To purchase, you need to complete several quests from local authorities.

I present to you another mod for a complete rework of the “House of Warm Winds” in Whiterun. Just by the very situation near the house and inside it, you can feel that the mod was made by a representative of the fairer sex.

Near the house there is a small vegetable garden, a pen for chickens and a veranda, and the house itself is warm and cozy, since it has almost everything you need for life and everyday activities, as well as such extremely rare things for these replayers as: a toilet and shower. Water is released into them (and in the kitchen too) using Dwemer valves. The lights in the house can be turned on and off. Fireplaces can also be lit and extinguished. For relaxation after battles and hikes, the house has a “game room” where you can play such “modern” things as bowling, billiards and a slot machine like the “One-Armed Bandit”, where you can win gold bars. There is also the opportunity to practice archery at moving targets.

Some floors can be reached by simple stairs, while others can be reached using teleporters. In the basement of the house, under the rug, you can find a secret hatch into an underground passage that will lead you to a huge and picturesque cave located under Whiterun, in which trees and flowers grow in an incredible way. In case you need to leave your home without anyone noticing you, there is a second exit from the cave, through which you get behind the southern wall of Whiterun (the grate with a drain).

In general: if you are used to it and want to live a luxurious life, then this mod is for you!

How to get a house key?

To get the house key, you must complete a small quest. Read the magazine on the chest in the bedroom of the “original” house, take the pickaxe and... take a short journey “in the footsteps” of a certain Remo, the builder and former owner of the “House of Warm Winds”...

Installation:unpack the files, drop them into the Data folder of your game and activate the mod in the Launcher.
