Where is the best place to relax in Crimea in August: youth and family resorts. The best excursions and boat trips, festivals and events of August 2019.

Guests of Crimea are sure that if there is ever a time when it is worth vacationing on the peninsula, it is in August. On the one hand, they are right. The Black Sea, although not the coldest on the planet, is warm for only 2-3 months a year, and the peak of the season occurs at the beginning of August. On the other hand, no matter how many hysterical statements are heard that “it’s empty” and “no one goes there,” at the end of summer there are not only people there, there are a sea of them! Finding yourself in Crimea in August, no, no, and you’ll think angrily that it would be better if “no one really went,” or at least “didn’t go this year,” for a change.

But there is little hope for such an outcome. And we all take vacations at about the same time to improve our health, tan and eat fruit. Therefore, let’s show tolerance to each other this year and try to get along on the peninsula together.

Weather and sea temperature

Holidays in Crimea in August are clearly divided into two parts. The first half of the month is consistently hot and dry - from 30 to 36° in the shade, and not a hint of rain. Night temperatures hardly differ from daytime ones: if the soul asks for rest from the sweltering heat, then there is no hope for the coolness of the night.

The water temperature reaches what locals call “fresh milk” (25-28°). It’s an amazing feeling when you’re hoping to freshen up, but the sea turns out to be almost warmer than the air. Another unpleasant feature of the month is jellyfish. In August, some parts of Crimea suffer from their invasion; they rarely pose a danger, but they do not add joy to swimming.

The nights in August in Crimea, although stuffy, are very starry - this is the best time to watch the sky through a telescope. If you can’t sleep, go to the Crimean Observatory in the village of Nauchny, Bakhchisaray district. If you're lucky, you'll catch the annual parade of planets!

The second half of August is more unpredictable. Already starting from the 15th, you may suddenly need a windbreaker, jeans, sneakers and a raincoat (in turn or at the same time) - that is, all those things that at the beginning of the month would have looked pretty wild in Crimea. After heavy rainfall, as a rule, the temperature begins to gradually decrease and by September it is set at around 22-27°.

Excursions in Crimea at the best prices

The most interesting excursions are routes from local residents to Tripster. We recommend - a sightseeing walk around the city, - the famous Little Jerusalem route and - a self-driving walking tour from Alushta to the Demerdzhi Valley.

Where is the best place to relax in Crimea in August 2019

August is the hottest time of year in Crimea in every sense. Lots of bustle, tourists, street vendors. Public transport is hot and crowded, civilized beaches are crowded, and you still need to know how to get to the “wild” ones. Therefore, the first piece of advice: if you only need relaxation, sea and sun, choose resorts that are as quiet as possible and, at first glance, “forgotten by God.”

By mid-August, Koyash Lake takes on a rich pink hue!

If you enter Crimea through the new Kerch Bridge, there is no point in crossing the entire peninsula from east to west. Therefore, take a closer look at the resorts of Kazantip - Shchelkino or Mysovoye. If the Sea of Azov does not inspire, choose either Beregovoe in the Feodosia area, Ordzhonikidze - closer to Koktebel.

You shouldn’t discount yourself either. The city, which has more than 30 km of coastline (and therefore beautiful sandy beaches), is always away from the busy resort life. And completely undeservedly, for our taste. Yes, holidays there are a little provincial, but they are cheap, and since Kerch is the third largest city in Crimea, there is much more entertainment than in a tiny village on the South Coast.

If you are interested in excursions, then there is the Klondike: you can go to, see Koyash Lake of an incredible pink hue (the closer to September, the richer its color), visit the General’s beaches and Cape Kazantip, and even capture a piece of the Arabat Spit!

What fruits and vegetables are in Crimea in August

Already in August, Crimean grapes and almonds appear on the markets (often from summer cottages). And, of course, Yalta onions from Blue Bay.

At the beginning of the month, you can try local peaches - not imported, without nitrates. Well, the grape season will last throughout September and October.

During the last summer month, you can eat your fill of Crimean pears, plums, second-wave raspberries and early apples, zucchini pancakes, sautéed eggplants and, of course, salads of cucumbers, tomatoes and bell peppers.

Fig lovers will have to be patient - they are available in Crimea, but due to the climate, they ripen later, by the end of September. Yes, and don’t trust local sellers: watermelons and melons on the peninsula are imported, they don’t have their own.

Excursions and boat trips

Despite the sweltering heat, excursions in Crimea continue to be in demand even in August. The leaders of the rating are variations on the theme with a ride on. Some, having heard about the coolness in the caves of Chatyr-Dag, go to admire the stalactites and stalagmites. But we have a better idea. August is the time for boat trips! Complete calm, swimming in the open sea, a beautiful tan (of course, if you take care of sun protection in advance).

  • Balaclava. Boat trips in Balaklava are some of the most interesting in Crimea. They start from the piers at: you can choose a private longboat or a large excursion boat. The route involves leaving the bay, sometimes swimming in the open sea, and then a choice of a tour of the Lost World, a stop at Vasili Beach, or landing at Silver Beach.
  • Sevastopol. In the hero city, the routes for boat trips are laid along (and across) Sevastopol Bay. The ships depart from Artbukhta, enter the Southern Bay for a short time, and slow down near the walls of the Mikhailovsky Ravelin and the peninsula on which one of the buildings of the military hospital rises.
  • Yalta. In the resort capital of Crimea there is a sea pier from where boats depart in different directions: if you want - towards Partenit, Utes and even Alushta, or if you want - all the way to the Swallow's Nest!
  • Evpatoria. The coastline does not offer a particularly rich excursion program (it is straight and sandy, without fancy rocks, grottoes or bays). But a couple of years ago an interesting route was launched Evpatoria - Sevastopol. If this maritime line operates in 2019, take advantage of the opportunity, the excursion could turn out to be interesting.
  • Koktebel. Who is lucky with the relief is the village of Koktebel! It is surrounded in a dense ring by the rocks of Karadag, most of which is included in the territory of the Karadag Nature Reserve. Boat trips along the shores of the mountain range are one of the...

By the way, about Koktebel. At the end of summer, this village has every chance of becoming the highlight of the program, and not only thanks to walks along Karadag.

For jazz in August - in Koktebel!

Event at the end of August - Koktebel Jazz Party. In 2018, the jazz festival will be held for the 16th time. There is an opinion that there is unlikely to be anything grandiose this year, because the anniversary event already took place in 2017. Last August, the Koktebel Jazz Party was widely covered in the media, there were many foreign guests, and Vladimir Putin visited the festival while passing through. However, for jazz fans the presence of dignitaries or the press from Europe and the USA does not matter. Koktebel has long been a place where you can enjoy truly good music.

For those who want to be on the spot and see everything with their own eyes, the dates of the jazz festival in Koktebel: from August 18 to August 20, 2019.

By the way, if the trip to Koktebel doesn’t work out, you can watch live broadcasts. Last year, RenTV broadcast all three days of the festival. Those who did not have time looked at the recordings. The official website of Koktebel Jazz Party is koktebel-jazz.ru.

If you want to get to Koktebel at the end of August, it’s time to take care of a hotel before the rush begins. The village is already in demand, but during such periods there are few vacancies, and hotel owners inflate prices.

What will you need? First, a selection; secondly, the two best placement options from the site administration.

#1. Complex Younge Art Camp

Standard room at Younge Art Camp

This is our favorite accommodation option in Koktebel. A recreation center consisting of one building and a network of wooden houses, painted in all the colors of the rainbow. The rooms are simple but stylish and equipped with all amenities. There is a cafe-bar on site where you can not only have breakfast (breakfast is included in the price), but also lunch/dinner if desired. The beach is nearby, there are sun loungers and umbrellas.

#2. Guest house "At Camel's Humps"

Hotel "At the Camel's Humps" (Koktebel, Crimea)

The rooms are newly renovated, without any frills, but have everything you need for relaxation (hairdryer, TV, air conditioning, balcony). 8-10 minutes to the sea at a calm pace. The noise from the embankment is not disturbing at night.

Meeting point - Massandra beach

If the quiet, measured rest of Storm, Katsiveli or Ordzhonikidze is not to your liking, then the most party place in Crimea is also open to guests in August. recognized as the best not only in Yalta, but throughout the entire peninsula. Fashionable restaurants, discos, themed parties, VIP recreation areas, where there is no crowd and ubiquitous corn - all this is available to vacationers.

This year, Massandra Beach was supposed to receive a certain Russian quality standard - an analogue of the EU Blue Flag, but there is no official information yet.

You can follow the schedule of events on the official website massandrabeach.com. But from the establishments, write down immediately: beach cafe Van Gogh(Mediterranean cuisine, meze, kebab, Crimean wines and champagne) and "Midyayka Shell"(local oysters and mussels, mullet, trout, salmon, scallops and shrimp). These restaurants are in demand even in the off-season.

There are many hotels and mini-hotels in the vicinity of Massandra Beach. You can book a room on the street. Drazhinsky, which runs parallel to the coastline, or almost at the very edge of the water! The main thing is that there are free places, which is very rare in August.

#1. Mini-hotel "Coral", Yalta

Crimea in August - view of Massandra beach

The guest house has an excellent location - overlooking the beach. From here it’s a stone’s throw both to the Yalta embankment and to the Yalta-Intourist Hotel and Massandra Park. The rooms are spacious, with all amenities (robes, slippers, refrigerator, air conditioning, hairdryer available), and have balconies (or terraces) with sea views. Delicious and varied breakfasts are included in the price.

#2. Yard at the pier, Yalta

Apartments built on the first coastline from the sea, at the very beginning of Massandra beach. Budget, but worthy option: simple, clean rooms with air conditioning and wi-fi, well-kept common area, access to all beach activities around the clock! Minimum stay is 2 nights.

Natural conditions on the peninsula differ depending on the proximity of mountains, the sea, and soil characteristics. Therefore, Crimea has been growing a wide variety of fruits for a long time. They are adapted to each region. Much of the credit for what fruits grow in Crimea now belongs to breeders

Beware, "foreign guests"

Every self-respecting tourist who comes to Crimea should definitely try the fruit. But caution won't hurt. Despite the fact that such a variety of delicious fruits are grown in Crimea, a significant amount of them is imported from abroad. As a rule, they are beautiful, ideally stored, and do not disappear for a long time.

Fruits of June and July

If you are lucky enough to get to Crimea at the beginning of summer, you can try a wide variety of fruits in June. These are apricot, mulberry, cherry, strawberry, peach. Each of them has a colorful taste. The impressions received will be another reason to return here.

Some people prefer to visit the peninsula later, knowing what a gentle sea Crimea greets in mid-summer, what fruits there are in July. These are fruits with a royal taste: new varieties of peaches, watermelons, melons, Crimean tomatoes, apples. And now about each in more detail.

Mulberry

She is completely special. Once it was brought from China and since then it feels great in the Crimean climate. There are about 9 species within the peninsula. Moreover, some do not grow anywhere except Crimea. Mulberries ripen in June, in large quantities, closer to the second half.

The local mulberry grows quite large. White and black, it is very juicy and sweet. Unfortunately, transporting it over long distances is impossible due to its tenderness. Therefore, you will have to eat plenty of it on the spot.

Mulberry leaves are also of considerable value. They are used to feed silkworms. In addition, dried leaves and berries are used as an additive to tea, and also as a folk remedy.

Crimean apricots

Some of the best fruits that Crimea can offer in June are local apricots. They feel good in the area of Bakhchisarai and Simferopol. In the South Coast region, short-term frosts are possible during the beginning of apricot flowering, which leads to crop failures. Therefore, a lot of them and at a cheap price can be found approximately one year out of 3-4.

In Crimea there are many varieties bred specifically for this region. The real Crimean varieties are considered to be Red-cheeked and Pineapple apricots. But there is no need to treat wild animals without respect. The fact is that wild apricots in Crimea differ from those in other regions. They are often much sweeter here. And some bitterness only adds piquancy to the taste.

The red-cheeked variety is orange in color and almost half reddish in color. The fruits are quite large, juicy and dense. Medium sweetness. The bone is small.

A separate conversation about the Pineapple apricot. It has a pale orange-cream color. There is an oblong bone inside. Sweet and dense pulp. Even the pit inside the apricot is distinguished by some sweetness.

Cherries

The cherry season begins in Crimea from mid-June and lasts until the end of July. Later varieties and sweeter. The most common Crimean varieties are: May early ripening, Drogana yellow, Kara Kerez, Napoleon. The first of them is dark red in color, the berries are heart-shaped, and its flesh is also dark red. Very tasty. The second has a yellow color, a ruddy side. Its size is larger than average. Very sweet.

A small recommendation for tourists who love to walk in the mountains, explore new places and are cherry lovers. This berry grows well and everywhere in Crimea. Unfortunately, today is not the best time for agriculture and for growing cherries in particular. There are abandoned gardens. The cherries in them have already gone somewhat wild, but remain very sweet. In addition, it has not been treated with any chemicals for several years.

Therefore, it is worth combining business with pleasure. And not only go on a hike for the sake of the hike itself, but also enjoy Crimean cherries. Long-abandoned gardens can be found at the memorial between the villages of Uglovoye and Peschanoye, near the Red Mountains.

Strawberry

There are many different varieties of it in Crimea. It’s worth choosing a local one. It is not as big and beautiful as the imported one, but very sweet. Its aroma is strong. The berries have an elongated shape. Crimean local strawberries are very fleshy and tender. It is very difficult to transport it. So, if strawberries sit on the market for several hours and are dry and do not lose their appearance, you should doubt that they are local.

Peaches

Peaches and figs are the best vegetables and fruits that Crimea has to offer. About 20 varieties of peaches are grown on the peninsula. Their size may be different. The skin is velvety, hairy or smooth. The color of the pulp varies from white to yellow-red or even red.

In order not to make a mistake when choosing a peach on the Crimean market, you need not only to choose a ripe one, but also to smell it well. Crimean local peaches have a very strong and sweet smell. It can be heard from a distance. However, you need to smell it so as not to make a mistake and buy a green peach brought from afar and ripened here. Sniffing at such a “guest of Crimea”, you can smell the smell of dust or another chemical shade. As a rule, such peaches are very beautiful and smooth. In contrast, local ripe fruits may not have a very beautiful appearance, a slightly broken skin or a too soft side. But it's not scary. Their sugary taste makes up for these shortcomings.

Peaches ripen in July. The most common and delicious are the following.

1. Fluffy early. Creamy small fruits. Round. The flesh is greenish. Very juicy.

2. Red-cheeked. Its size is larger than average, round. Cream color with green flesh.

3. Juicy. Green-beige fruit with a half-cherry blush. Very juicy greenish flesh.

4. Kiev nectarine. It is a red-burgundy fruit with orange flesh. Sweet with a slight sourness. Its bone usually comes off easily.

Peach is useful for stimulating appetite in children. It is recommended for diseases of the stomach, intestines, and rhythm disturbances. It is recommended to rinse your mouth after eating peaches. Their fruit acids have a negative effect on tooth enamel.

Nectarines

This fruit is also grown in Crimea. However, in very small quantities. Therefore, if you want to try Crimean fruits, you should not take nectarine. As a rule, it is imported. Unfortunately, Crimea largely receives fruit in July, as throughout the year, from Spain or Turkey.

Figs

Of all the fruits that Crimea grows, figs are the most exotic and unusual. This fruit can only be truly enjoyed here. Figs produce two harvests in Crimea. One in June-July, and the other in August. This fruit must be soft and juicy when purchased. But not dry at all with a dried out interior. Figs are very sweet. White and purple figs grow in Crimea. Each of them is good in its own way.

Figs are a real storehouse of vitamins and beneficial microelements. It is recommended for diabetes, as it helps lower blood sugar levels. In addition, it helps reduce cholesterol levels and fights the formation of atherosclerotic changes in blood vessels.

The “delicious” season on the peninsula begins quite early and ends in late autumn. From May to November, Crimea offers a wide variety of vegetables and fruits. The conditions of the peninsula create the prerequisites for growing and ripening peaches, mulberries, strawberries, and figs with bright flavors. All of them differ from those grown in neighboring regions. Having visited Crimea during these months, you can easily find out what fruits are in July or September. To do this, just visit the colorful local market. And then it will become clear why the combination “Crimea-fruit” is as relevant as “Crimea-Black Sea”.

More than 200 types of cherries grow in the gardens of the Crimean peninsula. The most popular varieties are considered to be Mayskaya early ripening, Napaleon, Kara Kereza, Francis, Drogan.

Suitable for long hauls

Additional Information! Strawberries in Crimea can ripen twice a year. In April, from August until the first cold weather.

When does the Crimean cherry ripen?

Description of the species

Trees begin to bear fruit at 4-5 years of age. The trees are characterized by intensive growth. Adult specimens reach 6 meters in height. The crowns are large in diameter, spreading, spherical. The foliage is dense. The leaves are light green, oval, evenly elongated on both sides. The crops bear fruit abundantly.

Flowering begins in late March - early April (this depends on the region and climate). Each inflorescence consists of 2 - 3 flowers. They are collected mainly on the first 5 buds of young shoots, as well as bouquet branches.

The berries are large (6 - 10 g), dark red or yellow, sweet and sour in taste. Fruit shapes are heart-shaped, round, oval. The pulp is juicy, red, lemon, yellow in color. Fruits of different types ripen in late May, mid-late June, early July.

On a note! The yield of cherries depends on the variety and climate, on average 30 - 70 kg.

Landing

If you plan to plant a whole cherry orchard, it is better to arrange paired rows. Trees prefer warm, sunny places and do not tolerate darkness, high humidity, drafts, soil overgrown with turf, and weeds.

Before planting seedlings, the area is cleared of grass, the soil is dug up, and organic matter is added. Prepare a deep planting hole. They put mineral compounds and humus in it. Culture will fully grow and develop.

During autumn planting, the root collar must be hilled up. With the arrival of spring, it is opened after the frosts have passed.

Important! The root collar of the trunk should not be buried in the ground. It should rise several centimeters above the soil surface and be located on the south side.

The distance between trees should be 3 - 4 meters, as they grow quite large. They tie the tree trunk to pegs. There must be at least three of them. After planting, the soil is compacted tightly and watered generously.

In the north, in the Central region, Moscow, it is preferable to plant Crimean cherries in the spring.

Care

Cherries in Crimea, as in all southern regions, require frequent watering. Poor soils also require humus supplements. If the soil is clayey or sandy, then the plants are fertilized with manure.

Note! After planting, for the first three years it is better to give the young tree rest, carrying out only the necessary preventive measures. All other work must be carried out just before fruiting.

Trees need to be watered:

  • in May, after the cherry tree has finished flowering, so that the plant is saturated with moisture before fruiting begins;
  • during the period when the berries begin to ripen, so that they are beautiful and juicy;
  • during drought (abundant watering to a depth of 40 cm);
  • in the fall, before the onset of frost.

It is necessary to regularly loosen the soil to a depth of no more than 7 cm. It is better to do this after each watering of the plant. You can sow green manure in the tree trunk circle. They will crowd out weeds and additionally feed the cherries.

Trees are fed throughout the season. Peat, humus, and diluted aqueous infusion of chicken droppings or manure are used.

Note! After picking the berries, be sure to fertilize the plants with potassium-phosphorus substances. This will have a beneficial effect on the formation of fruit buds next year.

Pruning is carried out annually. Annual shoots are shortened by a fifth of the trunk. The growing shoots are cut inwards, forming a beautiful crown. Sick, old, damaged, dry branches are also removed. After the work, the sections are filled with garden varnish.

Diseases, pests

Cherry trees can be attacked by the cherry fly. It can destroy 70% of the crop. Control measures:

  • dig up the soil;
  • irrigate the tree with a soap solution;
  • During the flowering season, all kinds of traps, vessels filled with sweet liquid, and sticky tapes are attached to the branches.

Sometimes crops are harmed by cherry weevils, aphids, and caterpillars. In this case, 2 weeks after the flowering period, it is treated with the drug Aktelik, Aktar, Enzhno.

Occasionally, plants are affected by coccomycosis, rot, and other fungal diseases. To combat them, the drug Horus is used.

Protection from diseases

Prevention

In the spring, sanitary pruning of branches is carried out, weeds and fallen leaves are burned, the tree trunk area is dug up, the trees are sprayed with copper sulfate or Bordeaux mixture, and the trunks are whitened with lime. The same procedures must be carried out in October - November.

All varieties of cherries certainly deserve the attention of gardeners. Despite some requirements for growing conditions, the crop as a whole has proven itself very well.

Every traveler who arrives on the Crimean peninsula must certainly taste the local fruits and berries that grow in Crimea and which are also very healthy.

Crimean persimmon

Holidays in Crimea are not only a pleasant pastime and a way to improve your health, but also an opportunity to replenish your vitamin reserves. The main and tasty suppliers of nutrients are fruits. Sunny Crimea is rich in delicious fruits, and even their famous types have a special taste and aroma. To ensure that your body truly receives only the benefits and not a dose of pesticides, buy fruits only when they are in season.

Already at the end of May, the holiday season begins on the Crimean peninsula. Sanatoriums, hotels, boarding houses and private houses of local residents are looking forward to their first guests. On supermarket shelves and even markets you can buy “imported” apples, oranges and bananas. Such fruits have an impeccable appearance and a long shelf life. There is plenty of “good” in every city that is not a resort, so you shouldn’t pay attention to them. Another thing is local fruits. The first of them can be purchased from mid-May - these are strawberries and early cherries.

In order for the fruits to give you maximum pleasure, try to choose only dry, shiny, dense ones, with green, elastic stalks.

Along with peach, figs are considered one of the popular fruits of the Crimean peninsula. Its harvest is harvested twice - from the end of June to the second half of July, and then from August to mid-September. In Crimea, purple, green, brown, green and black figs are found. The fruit has an excellent, sweet taste, although some light varieties may not be very sweet, along with this it is also healthy. It is better to eat it fresh or dried.

Figs are one of the highly perishable types of fruit, so you should choose them with great care, and you should not buy them “in reserve.” A ripe fruit will not release white juice at the tearing site. Good figs should not emit a sour smell. If you plan to eat it right away, you can purchase very soft, “falling apart” fruits.
