Why do people choose polycarbonate

Let's figure out what this material is. Polycarbonate is a hard polymer plastic. It is widely used not only in construction, but also for the production of lenses, compact discs, and computer parts.

May be:

Cellular polycarbonate is several thin plates connected to each other by jumpers. In cross section, the sheet is divided into cells, and the air contained in them provides good thermal insulation properties of the material.

Monolithic polycarbonate is a continuous sheet of polymer without voids or cells. This is a universal building material that has excellent light transmittance and can replace ordinary glass.

Among the advantages of the material it is worth highlighting:

  • Affordable price. Polycarbonate is cheaper than metal, glass and wood.

  • Light weight for easy installation. Cellular polycarbonate is 16 times lighter than glass.

  • Fire safety. Does not ignite and does not contribute to the spread of fire.

  • Resistant to temperature changes. Polycarbonate tolerates operation well in the temperature range from -40 to +120 degrees Celsius.

  • Reliability and durability. A properly made canopy from this material will serve you for decades.

  • Flexibility and plasticity. You can create structures of various design shapes.

  • Variety of colors. Polycarbonate is available in all possible colors, which makes it possible to choose a material that fits perfectly into the style of the building.

  • Easy to care for. To clean the cover of the canopy from dirt, you do not need expensive detergents. It washes well with regular soapy water.

It is not surprising that with so many useful properties, polycarbonate is so popular as a material for building sheds. Let's figure out what a canopy for a house can be like?

Canopy over the entrance

The canopy above the entrance serves to protect the porch from rain, snow and other unfavorable factors. It can be attached to the building on suspensions or installed on additional supports. The frame material is wood, steel or aluminum.

Polycarbonate canopies on a forged frame look very beautiful and interesting. Floral motifs and complex geometric shapes of forged elements give the appearance of the visor luxury and chic. Such designs fit well into the style of ancient buildings and classic private houses.

A polycarbonate canopy over the entrance not only perfectly fulfills its main function, but also serves as a harmonious addition to the exterior, and in some cases, a bright accent that can completely change the visual perception of the appearance of the house. Thanks to the variety of colors, the material can be perfectly matched to the color of the building.

Carport

The advantages of building a carport for a house are obvious:

When designing such a structure, the dimensions of your car are taken into account, and a part of the building is selected that is convenient to drive up to.

Cozy terrace

A common option for installing a polycarbonate canopy to a house is to create a terrace for summer recreation. It can be placed directly in front of the main entrance or on the side of the building. Tables and chairs are installed, the high fire safety of the material allows you to place a barbecue on such a terrace.

And this is another example of how a variety of colors allows you to create the perfect design to suit your taste. It is very pleasant to be under a completely transparent roof during warm summer rain. They say that you can watch the flowing drops of water endlessly. The tinted coating will protect from bright sunlight and ultraviolet radiation. An interesting lighting effect is created by bright sheets of colored polycarbonate.

Wood is an environmentally friendly natural material that has a pleasant smell

In the hot summer months, you really want to hide in the shade from the scorching sun, but often the lack of trees near a new private house does not allow this. In winter, the owners suffer from snow drifts in the yard, which they constantly have to clear on their own or with the help of hired workers. A canopy to the house will help to get rid of such problems completely or at least partially.

Ready-made canopy made of metal profiles attached to the house

A canopy is a structure located, as a rule, near a building. The main weight load can be distributed between the wall of a private house and the supports or fall entirely on the constructed supports. In fact, a canopy is a roof without walls or attached to a wall.

Sheds are designed to solve a number of specific problems:

  • Shading. In the hot season, canopy structures are designed to create shade in the recreational area, parking area or storage areas for any supplies.
  • Rain protection. You don’t want to get caught in the rain and get wet during a picnic, and it will stay cleaner.
  • Snow protection. You will be able to spend less of your personal time clearing snow drifts in the yard, in front of the porch, and cleaning your car after a snowfall.

As you can see, the canopy is very convenient.

An example of a canopy for a house made of polycarbonate and metal poles

Thanks to the development of construction, a design can be not only functional, but also very beautiful.
Among hanging structures, several main types are most widespread:

  • metal,
  • wooden,
  • forged,
  • stone.

Polycarbonate, slate, corrugated sheet or other roofing material can be used as a covering material.
The shape of the canopies can also be different. Today, there are multi-level decorative canopies, extensions to the house in the form of an extension of the roof, and simple hanging structures.

Visors

A special group is the canopy over the porch or window - the canopy. This is usually a small structure with two supports attached to the wall or ground surface in front of the porch.
Typically, canopies are made in the form of a welded frame made of metal or wood and covered with polycarbonate or corrugated sheeting.

This is what a canopy for a house made of corrugated board looks like

Entrance areas can also be decorated with a forged frame, then the canopy looks especially elegant and beautiful.

Material selection

Before making a canopy for your house, you should decide on the choice of basic materials for the structure. Each of them has its own pros and cons.

Wooden structures

Wooden canopies are not uncommon today. For their construction, 10x10 timber is usually used as supports, smaller timber and boards for roof sheathing. A decorative canopy can also be decorated with railings, which also increases the strength of the structure. The advantages of wooden canopies include the following:

On the downside, it should be mentioned that wood is a flammable material, so you need to monitor nearby fire sources. It is unacceptable to locate the barbecue near such a structure.
Wood can also rot when exposed to excess moisture. To prevent this from happening, special coatings are used: primers, varnishes and paints.

Metal constructions

Metal structures are pipes welded or otherwise secured to each other, covered with some kind of roofing material.
As supports, a round or profile pipe of sufficiently large diameter (at least 10 cm) and a metal thickness of at least 2 mm is usually used.

An example of a metal canopy for a car area

The advantages of such canopies include:

  1. High structural strength (provided by welding elements together).
  2. If you have a welding machine and certain skills, you can make a canopy structure yourself. This will also reduce the final cost of the product, since the price for welder services is quite high.
  3. The profile pipe bends quite easily using a special device - a pipe bender. Due to this, it is possible to produce quite elegant designs that are attractive in appearance.
  4. A metal structure will be lighter than a stone or wooden one. Metal does not absorb moisture and does not become heavier after heavy rains or melting snow.

However, the metal is susceptible to corrosion. Periodic painting of the surface of the frame will help to cope with this problem. Before applying a layer of paint, the metal surface must be primed.

Forged structures

Such designs, as a rule, consist of a metal frame base, decorated with forged elements. They are welded to the frame, providing not only an attractive appearance, but also increasing the strength of the structure. Wrought iron canopies have a number of advantages:

  • look light and elegant;
  • strong and durable (forged products have been standing near various ancient castles for centuries, without losing their visual appeal and pristine strength);
  • relatively inexpensive (among the elite structures of canopies, forged can be considered quite inexpensive compared, for example, with a canopy with stone supports);
  • design flexibility is another advantage. Due to the increased load, the product will not break, as could happen with a wooden one, but will only bend slightly.
An example of a canopy for a house using forged elements

Compared to wood or simple metal structures, a wrought iron canopy will be much more expensive. However, it is worth it when it comes to prestige and creating a representative image of the owner of a private home or a successful company.

Most likely, to build a forged canopy, you will have to resort to the help of a specialist. You can count the number of good blacksmiths on one hand, but if you find such a master, you will be satisfied with his work for the rest of your life.

Stone structures

Only very respectable citizens can afford to make stone structures the basis for a canopy. But such a contribution of funds is justified in some cases.

  1. Stone is an almost eternal material. It is not afraid of heat, cold, or temperature changes, so the structure will last for many years.
  2. The stone structures look very respectable and beautiful.
  3. The high strength of the canopy frame allows you not to worry about reinforcing it with additional elements.

Stone is undoubtedly a very expensive material. Therefore, many people lay a metal structure as the basis of the frame, and on top of it they cover the surface with a finishing material that imitates the surface of natural stone. Building a canopy using this approach will significantly reduce the cost and speed up the construction process, while the appearance will remain at the highest level.

Preparing for installation

In order to make a canopy in front of the house, you need to prepare for the construction process. For convenience, it is worth dividing the entire preparation process into several stages.

Selecting a location

It should be remembered that if you are going to build a canopy in front of a porch or just against a wall, you will need to install fewer supports than if you were making a free-standing canopy.

Original canopy for a house made of wood

This must be taken into account, because an increase in the number of supports entails an increase in overall costs: for the construction of the foundation, for the purchase of material for the supports.

If it is not possible to attach the canopy to the wall, you should choose a place where it will be convenient to dig holes for the foundation (without plantings and asphalt or sidewalk paths). You need to try to find a free space between the already landscaped area and a private house, if possible, and only then start arranging the yard.

Purchase of materials

Before purchasing material, it is worth carefully calculating how much of something you will ultimately need. For this purpose, possible structural designs are being considered. If you wish and have the ability, you can prepare projects yourself, but you should remember that this requires certain engineering knowledge. Otherwise, the structure may turn out to be flimsy and will not last long.

Canopy for a cottage made of metal profile

If you are not confident in your abilities, it is better to play it safe and order projects from a special construction organization. The price of the issue is high, but health and life are more expensive.

Having chosen the base material, supports, additional connecting elements, and fasteners are purchased. For wood and metal surfaces, it will be necessary to purchase a certain type of primer and paint (or varnish) to protect the frame from the harmful effects of sunlight and moisture. To construct the foundation you will need sand, crushed stone and concrete, as well as reinforcement if the base is solid. For welding you will need electrodes, for cutting parts you will need grinder discs, and to tie the frame together you will need angles, screws, bolts, etc.

When choosing a covering for a canopy, many people opt for canopies made of polycarbonate or corrugated sheets. Each of these materials has its own advantages.

Ready-made canopy for the house made of wood and polycarbonate

Thus, polycarbonate canopies look lighter and more elegant due to their transparency and high degree of flexibility. Structures made from corrugated sheets are much stronger and are not as susceptible to hail as products made from polycarbonate.

On the other hand, you can buy higher density polycarbonate (8 or 10 mm) to minimize the likelihood of material penetration.

However, corrugated sheet canopies are opaque and provide better protection from the sun in hot weather. Profiled sheets will also cost less. When choosing between these two materials, you need to weigh the pros and cons.

When purchasing material according to calculations, it is always worth adding an additional 10% of the total volume to the required quantity. Practice shows that unexpected costs of materials always arise due to errors in projects or difficulties encountered.

Tool preparation

The list of tools required for the job may vary depending on the selected canopy material.
During construction you may need:

  • for pouring the foundation - shovels, concrete mixer, wheelbarrow;
  • for level installation of supports and frame elements - level, square;
  • for welding metal structures - a welding machine;
  • to install a canopy made of metal or wood - a screwdriver, a grinder or a circular saw, a drill (especially if you plan to attach the structure to the wall).

A stepladder or tall ladder may also be needed for working at heights. If you have to lift up a solid welded metal frame structure, you will have to resort to the services of a manipulator.

A private house is an area where you can give free rein to your talents, create something new and interesting, build an original building or improve an existing one. Naturally, every owner of a private house with his own plot of land tries to improve his territory as much as possible and increase the overall level of its comfort.

In order to realize themselves, owners use architectural forms and buildings, one of which are sheds. If you look at photos on the Internet, you can understand that they can not only be practical, performing their direct functions, but also very interesting in appearance, creating a highlight on the site.

Stages of building a canopy with your own hands

In order to start building a canopy on the territory of a private house with your own hands, you need to carefully prepare for this and follow the generally accepted sequence, which is as follows:

  • creation of a project, drawing;
  • preliminary preparation of materials that will be used;
  • preparing the tools necessary to carry out the work;
  • soil preparation, surface leveling;
  • installation and concreting of canopy supports;
  • installation of longitudinal beams between supports;
  • roof decking and fastening (profile or other material).

This type of extension is an attribute of comfort and coziness, which guarantees the holding of previously planned outdoor events, regardless of the vagaries of the weather. Nowadays, many different high-quality materials are freely available on the market, which means they can be purchased and used to create a building. By using a little imagination and realizing his desires, the owner of a private house is able to not only complete the planned construction, but also make it original, stylish and sophisticated.

Canopy designs depending on their area of application

First of all, a canopy is a means of protection that will protect a certain area from rain and snow, falling leaves and the hot rays of the sun. Consequently, their location on the territory of a private house will be optimal where there are supposed to be recreation areas or areas of the greatest “traffic” (where people pass most often).

Canopy "visor"

This type of canopy is the most basic and probably the most important, because it serves as a means of protection from rain and snow near the front door. It is also very important because it can protect the threshold or steps from the accumulation of wet snow and ice formation, which can lead to painful falls, bruises and injuries, and sometimes even fractures. That is why you should pay special attention to it, carefully consider the length of its protrusion and width in such a way as to protect yourself from possible problems. A subtype of such a canopy is an extension over the terrace, which is fixed on one side to the wall of the building. Under the canopy you can place furniture, a table, a barbecue or a small seating area for the comfort of residents of a private home.

Since this canopy is actually an additional part of the house, it is made from materials corresponding to the main building. If the house is wooden, then the canopy is made of timber, but if it is brick, then a metal covering is suitable. In addition, it is important to take into account external harmony and color matching so that at the end of construction the house and the shed look like a single whole.

Shed-extension

If desired, you can create a canopy in the courtyard of a private house in such a way that it protects the entire territory, starting from the gate and ending with the threshold for entering the house or any of the other buildings on the territory. This type of construction is quite massive and dimensional; it represents an entire extension, one side of which is attached to the house, and the other is installed on supports. Their main advantage is that you can move freely along protected paths in any weather, and in winter these paths do not need to be cleared of snow. The extension canopy can also be of a stationary type (supported on both sides by supports) or a mixed version.

Canopy over the pool of a private house

With this type of canopy, it would be best to design a “greenhouse” version of the closure. If sliding elements are used in the design, they can be controlled by opening sections in hot weather and closing them in wind or rain. The best option would be transparent coatings that will not interfere with the view and create a pleasant aesthetic impression.

gazebo canopy

This is one of the most favorite types of canopy for all home owners, which can be made in any convenient shape: circle, square, polyhedron, etc. It is optimal to place such canopies in the most picturesque area of the site or on a small hill. The gazebo can also be of an open type, in which case there are enough supports and the roof itself, which will protect from bad weather.

Canopy over a play area or playground

This option is popular among families with children who love to play outdoors. Everyone knows that even in bad weather it is quite difficult to keep a child in the house, which means that a special canopy should be constructed and placed over a sandbox, swing or horizontal bar in order to protect the child from the vagaries of the weather. It is also worth noting that the canopy will extend the life of the playing area by protecting the wooden structures of the playground from precipitation.

Canopy for car protection

This is the best construction option for those who do not have enough free space on the territory of a private house and cannot afford to build a garage. Also, such canopies can serve as protection for the cars of guests, who will have peace of mind for their car by placing it under a special canopy. The main advantage of this canopy is the economic benefit, because building a garage is much more difficult and financially expensive.

What to make a canopy from in the courtyard of a private house?

Regardless of the functions of the canopy, it does not have an overly complex structure consisting of a support, frame and roof. Materials must be selected in accordance with the style of the house and overall landscape design. Wooden beams, brick pillars or steel pipes can be used as supports. For the frame it is best to use wood or metal profiles. The roofing materials used are similar to those used on other buildings. The best roofing options will be: plastic, polycarbonate, corrugated sheets and metal tiles.

Canopy made of corrugated sheets

It is corrugated sheeting that is considered optimal for the roof of a canopy, since it is easy to install, inexpensive, has high density and durability. In addition, this material is practical and combines well with any other materials used.

Depending on the design, the following types of canopies are distinguished: single and gable, arched. The arched type is the most complex, but also looks more attractive. The gable type of construction is used less often.

Canopies made of metal profiles

The main advantage of this material is its lightness and compatibility with other materials. This is a high-quality, reliable and durable material that can last a very long time, provided that it is properly looked after. The concept of caring means special treatment of the coating with anti-corrosion agents or paints that contain similar elements in their composition.

Wooden awnings

Over time, this type of roofing is becoming more and more popular, as it creates the impression of unity with nature and the surrounding landscape. The scope of application of a wooden canopy is not limited in any way; it can be used for any type, be it an extension or a stationary canopy.

The main advantage and advantage is that wood lends itself well to processing, which means you can create original shapes and boldly realize your design ideas. It is important to remember that the wood must be treated with protective solutions, which will protect the timber from insects and rot.

Soft roof options:

The structure attached to the house is an important part of the exterior, which is designed to protect the part of the yard used as a recreation area from ultraviolet rays and precipitation. In addition, the structure serves a decorative function and looks like a small area, closed at the top and attached to one side of the wall. This design solution is not only a decoration, but also allows you to expand the usable area of a residential building.

Independent extensions do not always achieve the expected result. To organize a beautiful corner for relaxation, use the services of the Fence-Style company. Experienced specialists will offer exactly those polycarbonate structures that will best equip your garden area. Contact professionals to get a practical and inexpensive solution for organizing your garden plot.

Why canopies made of polycarbonate?

The extension must be strong enough to bear the weight of snow rolling off the roof. Previously, the roof of the structure was covered with slate, galvanized iron or corrugated sheets. Today there is a more interesting alternative - polycarbonate, which has a number of advantages. Fiberglass can be combined with frames made from any building material.

Main characteristics of polycarbonate:

Strength(200 times stronger than glass). Not damaged by stones and hail.

Low weight(20 times lighter than glass). Lightweight three-dimensional structures can be created from fiberglass. Labor intensity the work performed and the cost of the structure will be low.

Flexibility. By taking into account the direction of the internal channels and the bending radius, it is possible to bend the translucent material even at subzero temperatures.

Mobility. An awning can be installed over the front door or cover a certain part of the yard.

Transparency. Regardless of the thickness of the building material, it transmits 80-90% of daylight.

Soundproofing. During rain or hail, the monotonous annoying sound, especially at night, is practically absent.

Heat resistance. Has good performance properties at temperatures -40 - +120 °.

Fire safety. The material does not ignite, eliminating the possibility of fire spreading.

Durability. If installed correctly, the structure will last for several decades.

The polycarbonate from which the canopy is made is easy to process. It can be cut with a saw, drilled and exposed to an angle grinder or jigsaw. It is best to use polycarbonate with UF protection. It has a longer service life, during which the building material does not lose its aesthetic qualities.

Polycarbonate is an excellent solution for those who value the functionality of a building material while being careful with the family budget. Even large canopies with an unusual design solution are quite affordable.

Destination area

Structures attached to the house are intended for the following purposes:

Organization of a place for summer holidays.

Vehicle placement.

A harmonious addition to the building design.

Installation of an awning over the area for household needs or barbecue.

Protection from precipitation of the pool, the area in front of the front door, and passages around the house.

Using carbonate, you can create roofs with different configurations - single- and gable-pitched, arched, pyramidal, convex and concave, with a small bending radius. Canopies for the house look much better if you use tinted or colored fiberglass.

Design selection

Before installing canopies to the house, the customer selects a suitable model of the structure.

Destination area and total area of the site.

Intended dimensions of the structure.

Snow and wind loads.

The condition of the foundation and walls of the house.

Features of the building design.

Type of building material (polycarbonate).

After taking into account the main points, a drawing of the canopy is made with the actual dimensions of the length, height and depth of the structure on a certain scale. This is necessary in order to calculate the amount of material that will be used to create the frame and roof.

Installation steps

Attaching the structure to the house is carried out in stages. Compliance with the required technologies is of great importance. Despite the fact that the building material is unpretentious, it is better to entrust this matter to professionals.

First, a suitable location is selected, after which the following actions are performed:

Preparation. Before the structure is attached to the house, extraneous vegetation is removed from the area and the turf is removed to the depth of root germination. The surface of the cleaned area is leveled, fine crushed stone or sand is added, and the upper layers of the soil are compacted.

Installation of supporting structures - four metal pipes. Their diameter depends on the height and area of the extension. Under the metal elements, holes with a cross-section of 20 cm are drilled to a depth of 50-60 cm (until dense soil is reached). The support pitch is 1.0-1.5 m, which depends on the weight of the structure; the heavier it is, the higher the frequency.

Concrete pouring. The finished recesses are filled with crushed stone, racks are installed and a fixative (concrete) is poured. Using a building level, precise vertical installation is controlled, which eliminates the possibility of deformation.

Construction of the deck. Holes are made in the upper part of the pipes with a drill, the roof is tied with slats, which are secured with bolts. The lathing is made, after which polycarbonate is installed. The wooden parts of the structure are impregnated in advance with an antiseptic solution and drying oil. If necessary, painting in the desired color is carried out.

Installation of polycarbonate. After the concrete has set, you can begin to build the canopy itself. To begin with, brackets are installed on the outer wall of the house, onto which a transverse load-bearing beam is attached. The top trim is being carried out. Fiberglass is cut to size and screwed to the sheathing. Holes for fastening are prepared in advance. The sheets are fastened together using an H-shaped profile.

Metal racks are coated with a primer containing zinc phosphate. You can immediately use an aluminum or galvanized profile. The flooring can be made in the form of concrete screed, boards, paving slabs, gravel or sand.

Can I do it myself?

There is essentially nothing complicated about building a canopy. Despite this, the person who takes on such responsibility must have certain skills. You need to understand that in the absence of knowledge of process technology, serious mistakes can be made that will cause a short service life. In addition, safety precautions may be violated, which may lead to an accident in the future.

Entrust the construction of a decorated extension to your home to specialists who have dozens or hundreds of completed works in their arsenal. The presence of a “portfolio” is confirmation that the craftsmen use high-quality building materials and possess all the necessary skills.

You can work with a canopy on your own for several months, while specialists will take no more than 2-4 weeks to complete the entire process. Customers are pleasantly surprised by the low cost of services from professionals who perform their work conscientiously.

In order to avoid problems with the canopy in the coming years, you should follow a number of rules:

Wipe the surface 2-3 times a year using a soft sponge soaked in soapy water. You can use isopropyl alcohol or a high quality solvent such as White Spirit. After removing dirt, the canopy must be rinsed with plenty of water.

Remove leaves and snow from the canopy as needed using a soft broom to prevent damage.

If small cracks appear on fiberglass, be sure to use silicone protective agents.

Do not walk on the canopy under any circumstances, as the sheets may crack. Hard brushes are not suitable for removing dirt because they can leave scratches on the surface of the fiberglass.

Examples of canopies for a house

Each owner of his own plot tries to improve the territory in the most comfortable way. For this, various architectural forms are used, a variety of which are canopies in the courtyard of a private house, photos of which confirm the fact that, in addition to their main functions, canopies can become a real highlight of the local area. They are a unique attribute of coziness and comfort, allowing you not to postpone planned events due to the vagaries of the weather. Thanks to the availability of a large selection of high-quality materials on the market, and with a little imagination, you can build the most elegant and beautiful canopy in the courtyard of a private house (the photos below show some interesting ideas for using such structures in the landscape design of the area near the house). Next, we’ll talk about the types of canopies and how to arrange them.

Canopies in the courtyard of a private house: photos of structures depending on the area of application

Canopies are, first of all, structures designed to protect a particular area from precipitation (whether snow or rain), hot sun rays or falling leaves. Therefore, they place a canopy in the courtyard of a private house, mainly over recreation areas and the most “passable” areas.

Canopy in the form of a “visor”

We can say that a canopy over the entrance is mandatory - it protects not only from rain, but plays the role of a kind of protection against wet snow sticking to the steps and thresholds, which can lead to falls and injuries. There is another variety - a canopy extension over the terrace, with one side fixed to the wall, under which comfortable furniture, a barbecue and other attributes of a comfortable stay can be located. As a rule, shelters over the porch are made in the same style as the main building, using appropriate materials and colors. For example, for a house made of timber, a wooden structure with the possible use of forged elements is suitable.

Shed-extension

You can implement a canopy in the yard to protect the area from the entrance to the gate or outbuildings. Such structures have quite large dimensions and, for the most part, are an extension canopy, one side of which is attached directly to the wall of the house, and the other is supported on supports. Their undoubted advantage is that you can freely move along the paths at any time of the year, and in winter you do not have to clear them of snow. They can also be stationary (with supports on all sides) or mixed type.

In this case, it is better to construct closed canopies in the courtyard of a private house - the photos clearly demonstrate the advantage of “greenhouse” type structures.

You can use sliding elements, with which you can open the mobile sections in hot weather and close them securely in windy weather.

gazebo canopy

This version of the canopy is a favorite structure for summer residents and owners of country houses. Gazebos can be of various shapes: round, square, polyhedron-shaped, as well as open (the design involves the presence of supports and a roof) or semi-closed type (there are side walls). Such buildings are usually located in the greenest, picturesque areas of the site on hills.

Canopy over the playground

A canopy over a children's playground is a fairly popular design for families. Even in the worst weather, it is very difficult to keep a child in the house, so a canopy located above the swing, sandbox and horizontal bars will be a good help for the child and his parents. In addition, the canopy will protect the wooden elements of the site from precipitation and extend their service life.

Canopy to the yard to protect the car

A carport will definitely become indispensable for owners of small plots where there is virtually no free space to build a garage. Carports in the courtyard of a private house (the photo shows their various options) can also serve in the event of guests arriving, who, undoubtedly, will be more comfortable seeing their car on the site, and not outside it. Among other things, installing such a canopy will require significantly lower financial costs than building a garage.

What to make a canopy for the yard from?

Canopies of any functional type have a completely simple design, the main elements of which are supports, frame and roof. In order to choose materials, you should first decide on the style - a canopy in the courtyard of a private house must correspond to the overall landscape design of the area.

The materials for the supports can be steel pipes, wooden beams, as well as posts made of brick. The frame, in most cases, is made of metal profiles or wood. The same material that covers the main buildings is often used to make the roof. Corrugated sheeting, plastic, metal tiles and soft types of materials are also well suited, among which polycarbonate stands out (due to its combination of strength and flexibility). Let's look at some of the most used options.

Sheds made of corrugated sheets in the courtyard of a private house: photos of bold ideas

Corrugated sheeting is considered an ideal option for roofing - this is explained by many indicators. Among these are the following: ease of installation, which is not particularly complicated (this applies to a greater extent to craftsmen who build canopies in the courtyard of a private house with their own hands); relative cheapness (especially if it is thin); high density, preventing furniture or car from fading; durability; practicality and unique compatibility with any materials used in the construction of the structure.

Depending on the type of construction and the amount of material required, sheds made of corrugated sheets in the courtyard of a private house (photos show various interpretations) can be arched, single-pitch or gable. The structure in the form of an arch looks much more interesting than a simple lean-to, but its construction will require a lot of experience, since it is quite complex. A gable canopy is used less frequently and is used mainly to equip the roof of an open summer kitchen.

Canopies made of metal profiles

The advantage of architectural forms made from metal profiles lies, first of all, in the visual lightness of the structure built with its help, which will easily fit into any design project for arranging the local area. In addition, metal profiles are a reliable and durable material that, with proper care, can last for quite a long time. Proper care, in this case, means timely treatment of it with anti-corrosion compounds or special paints containing them.

Sheds made of metal profiles in the courtyard of a private house (photos show various types of structures - from primitive to more complex) are used for various purposes. They can protect a recreation area, a car parking lot, or an open summer kitchen, without creating any visible clutter in the space.

Wooden canopies in the courtyard of a private house: photos of beautiful options

Wooden structures are gaining more popularity over the years, since, regardless of the style of the main buildings, they easily fit into the natural landscape, becoming a part of the landscape. A wooden canopy in the courtyard of a private house can be used for a variety of purposes, and can also be stationary or attached to the wall of the main building.

It should be noted that wood is a material that can be easily processed, from which you can create the most bizarre shapes. Wooden sheds are built from logs or timber. Experts advise using beams measuring 90 by 90 mm for support, and further strengthening the supporting beam for strength. It is worth remembering that the wood must be treated with special solutions that protect against rotting and various insects.

Wooden canopies in the courtyard of a private house, as seen in the photo, can be decorated with carvings, figured pillars or point balusters. The main thing is to know moderation in everything and not to overdo it, so that it doesn’t turn out to be absurd.
